Issue with my para 3

I pretty much haven't cut anything with it besides paper and I got it like 3 days ago. But just randomly it starts to stick and it feels like the washer keeps sticking to the liner and isn't touching the blade and the only way to fix it is by taking apart the knife and putting it together but then it happens again. Has anyone else had this issue because I think I am going to return mine to the Cabelas I got it at.

Update: I have fixed the issue by buying some benchmade blue lube lubricant and cleaner and it perfectly fixed it. No blade play, perfect drop shut. Thank you everyone for the help.

The washers go between the steel liners and the blade. If they're touching G10, the knife isn't assembled correctly.

Go to a fishing store and buy some that comes in a precision oiler.

Gun oil also works. A couple of drops and then open and close the blade several times to work it in.

I'm confused as to what is happening... can you explain it in more detail? What do you mean by "isn't touching the blade" if there is enough room for the liner or washer to not touch the blade you assembled the knife incorrectly.

Once you take the knife apart, returning it to the dealer is dishonest. You took it apart, now you own it. Send it to spyderco if you think it is defective.

I already decided I'm just going to order some Benchmade blue lube to fix it above. Anyways Cabelas warranty lasts for like 90 days and doesn't say anything about disassembly. Companies will say it voids the warranty if they wanted you to know. So I don't see how it is dishonest if it isn't even against their warranty in the first place. But I am not going to because I can just fix it because the washers are probably just really dry.

I said it "feels like" not that it literally is. Sorry for the confusion. I think I found the solution.

I bet I know what he's talking about, I've seen it on many recent Golden made Para 3's and para 2's.

The pivot is not *perfectly* square with both liners, so subsequently sits a little crooked. A tiny bit, but it's there. This causes a washer (on one side generally) to not sit exactly flush on the blade. So, if you opened the knife and held the pivot up to a light, you'd see light poking through the area where the washer SHOULD be contacting the pivot.

In every single knife I've tuned that didn't drop free recently, this has been the issue. So it can't be all that uncommon. After a disassemble/reassemble everything sits flush and the knife drops free usually.

Horse snot. If you think something is defective return it. Do not take it apart and then return it. That is dishonest. 99.9% of the people here will agree. Also, don't buy knives at cabelas unless you absolutely have to. I caught them with fake pm2s.

Alright thanks for the info then. BTW I got some blue lube and fixed my issue.

Please do not take this the wrong way, but I would like to know something. Is it sticking when you are opening the knife and again when closing it? If so, it is the detent catching on the blade. It is supposed to do that as that is what keeps the knife closed.

Sounds like you were running it dry, esp since you said it's fine since you lubed it.

What!?!?! This is crazy. I always thought Cabela's was a reputable company. I hope you reported this to them and to Spyderco. This should never happen if they're buying from Spyderco directly or from an authorized distributor.

I do my best to buy locally and tried to Cabela's since it's fairly close. Display case for knives was tiny, out of stock on almost everything, and 2 deep with people peering into the case like it had a two-headed unicorn. After 5 mins or so waiting for people to budge I left. Now seems like this was fortunate.

Mine does this on and off, also had lock stick. I'll add some lube and it'll work for a few weeks then crap again. Initially had to loosen the pivot a smidge. I suspect disassembly will fix it but haven't bothered trying yet, due to lazyness.

There was two. Both returns. I made thread about it here: https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/update-fake-pm2-at-cabelas.1220121/
