Issues with my new Anthem

You could send the knife the your country’s importer and ask them to return it for you.
It sucks to have issues like this, can I ask what country your from?

Sure you can, I'm from Denmark. I'm not sure how to get in touch with the Danish importer (don't even know who it is). Someone else mentioned the possibility of contacting one of the BM's moderators on this forum, which I'll try. Nevertheless, it shouldn't be this complicated, most people wouldn't bother posting on a forum and it should not be a forum post that decides the level of customer service. Could easily have been sorted out if they had offered to pay the shipping cost when I first contacted the customer service.

BTW, sending it back to the vendor, to have them ship it for me is not an option either, since I bought the knife in the US. It will cost me the same as sending it directly to BM.

Looks like that knife may need a new blade to correct the issue or it maybe the machining of the integral handle.

You could go through the process of returning to Benchmade but it would really suck if you get the knife back with the same centering issue.

I would return for a full refund and if possible purchase from a different dealer.

These issues are why I only buy used Benchmades on the exchange. They charge luxury knife prices for their higher end Knives but you get same qc as their grips and Bugouts.

They need to fix this.

I bought the knife in the US, I live in Europe. Returning the knife to the vendor will cost me just as much as shipping it to BM. I'm pretty much stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Hey Don, I am sending this thread directly to Customer Service.

I have already talked to the customer service though, and was given the option to send it back, on my own expense. But thanks for trying to help me, I really appreciate it, and I'll be looking forward to hearing what the outcome is.

Hey guys,

So, I just bought a brand new 781 Anthem. It's an awesome knife, love the design and it's so much fun playing with the axis lock, which is smooth like butter. However I was disappointed when I opened the box and found that my knife has a couple of annoying issues.

First off, the blade is not centered and I can't center it, no matter how I try and adjust the pivot screws. The second thing is the blade grind - it's uneven, especially at the tip of the blade. That's certainly not what I was expecting from such an expensive knife. I'm new to BM, this is my first knife from them, so I wasn't aware of the general quality control issues, which seems to haunt BM.

My problem is I live in Europe and sending the knife back for a warranty service is very expensive and complicated because of customs regulations. Furthermore I don't think I should be the one paying for their mistake.

What do you guys think, am I just being nit-picky or is it reasonable to expect a 400 dollar knife to be centered and grind evenly on both sides?

Here's a picture of the knife. The uneven grind is visible at the tip of the blade along with the non-centering.

Great to hear that it got sorted!
I bought an Anthem a few months back but returned it due to bad grind. I have been waiting now for months for Lamnia here in europe to get more stock to try and order another one. Lamnia were really great but tired of waiting for stock.

However, even with the headache... I really like the knife! I want it now! come on Benchmade, sort out the QC issues! :)
