guys holy crap i figured out how to get back into my account.
i havent bought many axes these days as i just plain have enough of them, but sometimes something really cool comes up like this guy.
this is a kelly standard off the USNS saugatuck. it wont be seeing much use because i want to preserve it, but it was pretty neat for saint nick to leave it behind

Found a $10 axe at the flea market yesterday. With the surface rust I could just make out a C. Didn't know if it was China or something else. I was pleasantly surprised after I cleaned it up a bit. Needs a new haft.View attachment 3127992View attachment 3127993
That's a great score , especially at $10.

I can tell just buy the pattern and cheeks that I had to be at least 60's or earlier and couldn't possibly be made in China, if I saw the C I'd certainly be hoping for a CHEMICALAXE but I'm not that lucky.
I have one around somewhere from my grandfather that my uncle gave me a few years back but the bit is significantly worn and the markings are so hard to just barely make out that I can't even remember exactly which axe it is.
