It happened.... Made the mistake of forgetting Pin Holes before HT...

I wish I could say I haven't done this. Personally I deal with SS and have zero luck with masonry drill bits from local home improvement stores. IF it's jut handle pins I've cut multiple slots with a dremel like device big enough for pin to go through. Yeap the HOLE gets big but I'm thinking it's just more for the glue to grab ahold of.

The masonry bits come pretty dull. You really have to sharpen them first to make them work like you think they should.

The masonry/glass bits do work and they don't do a horrible job. In a pinch they are very handy. Run them fast. But nothing beats proper planning and proper tools.

Just sharpen the carbide bits at the tip. Try to make it look like your regular hss drills.

Use a diamond plate or something similar. I don't think ceramic or AO belts will put a dent in carbide... Maybe zirc belts would work? I dunno, never tried it.

Not great pics, but I used this little folding diamond stone to sharpen this crappy little bit in about two minutes...

A carbide ball end mill and rigid work holding with cutting fluid works well for me.
