i have created an arrow flinging monster...:D

this is my 5 year old CYPRESS.... i'm sure you folks have seen his cute little mug before.. :D over the past 4-5 months or so, we have started to shoot his little selfbow... our friend max made it for him.. it's really cool... all osage with a rawhide backing, painted camo... it's still a little heavy for him, but he's doing his best... hitting his targets and having a blast...

this kid is a natural... he has watched his big brother and i shoot his whole life... he has picked it up so fast i am amazed... i truly think he is warrior reborn... he is just as at home in the woods, than he is indoors... most of the time barefoot at that...:o

so all in due time until he is trucking along behind us in the woods, be it 3-D shooting, hunting or stump shooting... he's ready...:D

mike and cy...

check out the determination on his face... he already has his form down too...

That is cool  I think I was around 12 when I got my first bow, so he's way ahead of the curve! It's such a fun and relaxing way to spend time

Give a child a prairie dog; they'll eat for a day... Teach a child to use a bow and arrow; they'll be the coolest little kid ever!

Nice work Mike. Keep raising them up in the way that they should go!

Good for you, Mike. Can never start 'em too soon.

I made this little 30" yew selfbow for a small lads birthday. Most difficult bow I ever made!:D We braced it, the young man decided to turn and launch his miniature arrow at my new garage door. Unfortunately, it stuck.

thanks guys for all the great comments guys...

i grew up shooting guns... hunting, camping and fishing..my dad is a CA. state parole agent and retired army sgt. first class.. i don't get to shoot my guns that often anymore, he does...but the bows i can shoot whenever i want.. we have a bunch of places to shoot our bows around here...

he wants to shoot just about everyday now....:o he's really excited about it... my older boy also started shooting a selfbow/longbow when he was 5, he's 10 now.. darn kids been shooting literally half his life already...:D

he's already a knife nut too.... :o i guess it's not a big surprise....

Mike, I think Cypress is just about the coolest little boy I've ever seen. You know what you're going to have to watch out for don't you? The knife wielding fathers of all the heartbroken little girls he will leave in his wake. :D

Thats awesome, it is great when you your children have the same interests that you have.

Thats great Mike!! Hannah shoots with me too! She's got a little 10lb walmart special. She's doin pretty good too.

That little guy reminds me of a young Cody Lundin.

Great stuff. My brother's boy (4) has a little self bow. A few weeks ago his mom caught him next door hunting near the neighbor's bird feeder. Start them young and raise them right. Mac

Cypress has got to be one of the cutest kids I've ever seen. Man, what a great shot for a 5 year old! Good job on the parenting, and like desertwalker said, you better watch out for those other dads...

many thanks once again guys...:D

cypress is a character... the misses and i are already anticipating the issues we are going to have with the girls(and dads), for both of our boys....:o

girls love guys with "BOWHUNTING SKILLS"...:thumbup:

Great stuff, I hopes he keeps it up and doesn't get drawn into the X-Box 360 disease !!!

i'm sure he will keep it up... i think more so than my older boy, sad to say, though he started shooting when he was 5 also, he's 10 now... cy is all about it...

we don't have cable or any of those video game systems, so it's highly unlikely that he'll go that route... my kids play outside as much as possible...:)
