Hey Guys how are yah

I need advise on which Folding karambit i should save up for. Has to be Emerson, but am lost because there are so many different ones available and a lot of price ranges as well.

So which one do you think i should get and how much can i get it for

aj

i dont like k'bits myself, plain and simple.

that said the EKI k'bit is imho one of the better ones, i like the cutter tool ones the best though.

i dont like the tarani folders either.

i have the combat kerambit, paid about 175 iirc.

im thinking of picking up the super kerambit. i prefer the hawkbill type blade for a knife of this type.

The Emerson Karambit is excellent.

The wave function works perfectly with the karambit. However, if your hands are very big, there's a risk that the finger hole is a bit small for your index finger (I had that problem). If you have normal to smaller sized hands, you should buy it right away though.
Since I have big hands and fingers, I personally prefer the Spyderco Karambit.
(Don't listen to the people complaining about the Spyderco Karambit, the only ones who do that are the ones who only want the knife to look cool and don't care about functionality. It is an excellent piece.)

Emerson makes 2 folding kerambits the combat and the super.

I have 2 combat kerambits a satin and a black one. there both nice blades but the finger hole is a touch small. they are up there with the better ones available but the CK&T Bengal is the best folding kerambit i have. its just feels better in the hand etc., but i think you will have trouble finding a new one of those.

i payed about $140 for both my emersons but the super will be about $170, give or take. The spyderco is also a good piece well worth looking at.

But you really want a fixed blade if your going to buy a kerambit.

that was a very good price if you ever let one go i'm here:D

If you are into them get a bull nose since I understand those were just discontinued.

I got one from a sharp and shiney online shop that mysteriously dissapeared ? and the other on a well known auction site, (Have a look on flea-bay my friend ;))

you really should look at the cutters, they are imho the top of the heap in k'bits,

I thought the exact thing well i mean getting the bullnose, but then other people stated that it isn't a true kbit shape.

Do you carry it and how well does the wave work.

aj

yes, i carry it support side in a sap pocket (im a cop). i experimented with a few different knives, even a couple waved models.

i found i could not reliably deploy any of them with my left hand....

except the kerambit. just stick my index finger in the finger hole (that sounds bad, i know) and strip from my pocket. i have a good grip, and the blade is opened all in one quick move.

Will the wave work wave well from the right and left side & always in a reverse grip right. I never had a wave or a kbit so carrying is a bit confusing to me.

yes, either side. its easiest from the rear pocket, since the natural motion is to pull forward and slightly to the side.

it will work well from the front as well, though you will have to reach under the ring to get a reverse grip, and pull to the rear. still very fast and effective, but the draw is not as natural a movement.

with a little practice, you should be able to draw from any pocket with either hand.

HOWEVER, if you wave to much, you will tear up your pants.

My pick is the Emerson Combat Karambit carried to wave in reverse grip. Emerson has a decent DVD set for training with the Karambit, most of the DVD is working with a Karambit in each hand.
