Well I finished the chop/put in tree steps/clear brush/ugly tool.
The best thing is it works. I cut several 2X4's and it still shaves hair.
It also makes the neatest 5/16 holes 3/4 deep, you ever saw.
Nah, don't think that's winner for ugly, it's definitely something though, looks wise, but I'm a sucker for function, and adding extra function in a tool gives it excuse to be a bit more 'interesting' visually, least to me.
First look didn't like it at all, but can definitely see how that's be very useful for all the intended uses you mentiopned in other thread. It's growing on me(more so than that weird italian plywood L6 had in his thread )
Ugly hell! Put a leather cord wrap on the handle and your name on the blade and I'd love to have one of those lane clearing, nail pulling, spike stickin', bottle opening, beauty tools!
Hell, who wouldn't?
Peter, When we talk about a knife being a "sharpened prybar" it's just a turn of phrase we use, not a working description for a new design. But you go & take it literally, execute it neatly, and looky here what happens....
Overall, it's a neat idea. IMHO it ain't ugly, since utility has its own beauty in my view. BTW will it still pull nails with the gooseneck puller or is there too much flex in the sharpened blade part to allow that activity?
Hey man, clean up the finish a bit, a bit of rayskin and epoxied handle wrap and some one will find a martial arts application for it !!
Frankly, I DO THINK ITS UGLY !! But hell, most of the most successful guys / gals in the world are not great lookers. Check out Albert Einstein, or Bill Gates ... Jason.
Peter, you are still beat on the ugly, unfortunately. You let my mother-in-law chew on it for a little while, and you will win, hands down! She will just roll the whole thing around in her mouth like a marble. I promise you,Gouge won't have a chance!
Peter,
How about a flip handle that would cover the blade when using the pry bar? I know it would mean drilling a hole in the hardened steel so that may be an idea for the next one.
Good work!
Keep thinking, Lynn
