It still amazes me how certain knives find us

Being presented with it gave me a feeling similar to when I unexpectedly found my dad’s barlow a few years back. In a way it’s something of a reunion between my dad and uncle. Even though the men are gone the memories are still here and come together in interesting ways.

Thats a beautiful thing you said there. It got to me because i lost my uncle unexpextedly a few years back. In fact my grandmother called me over one day to give me some of his personal belongings that she thought he would have wanted me to have and one of the things was this ram horn knife... Not something i can carry every day but i display it proudly in my home. Blade was very rusty when i received it but i was able to clean it up a bit. Definately one of my most treasured posessions.

OUTSTANDING!!!:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

I wouldn't change a single thing on it, leaving it just as it is including the nick. It's a link to the man who carried it, and apparently used the heck out of it. I'd just oil and sharpen, and use gently from now on. And that blood red bone is gorgeous enough to kill for! Beautiful!

Carl.

I'm with Carl on this too. I recently had an Uncle pass and my Mom was thoughtful enough to put his knives aside to send to me. They should be in the mail soon and I plan on leaving them in the condition he left them, but still use them. Congratulations and what a good story!
