Thanks to some help from IG this last weekend over St Patty's (and a hearty corned beaf and cabbage lunch, mmm!) and a package arriving today from Darren Ellis with propane hose, a needle valve, and a regulator assembly, i fired up my new burner for the first time today, yay ! (note the bottle of soapy water to check the connections)
I've got a forge body all ready to be filled out now with refractory stuff (ITC100 I needed came with the shipment from Darren Ellis as well) Just need to get back to IG's for some welding and hole cutting now so I can finish this thing off. One thing for sure is that it will take getting used to toying with a forced air burner to get it right each time I start the forge. I kept blowing my flame out while trying to get a good strong flame.
I wasnt 100% sure the best order to connect things up, so iv'e got it currently connected together Bottle Connector -> Regulator -> 10' Hose -> Needle valve -> Quick connect female end ... then on the burner side Quick connect male end -> Ball valve -> nozzle. I wanted to keep the most controll of the flame next to where i was controlling the air, and I wanted to use a quick connect so that I could, when building more forges in the future, use the same hose, regulator and needle valve to control them.
Because a few people have asked me, The place I bought my blower was from an ebay store sunsethydro , if you search for 60 CFM blower you should find them easy enough. They continually have them listed 75$ including shipping, they're pre-wired (although without a switch) and will screw into a 1.5" flange to hold them in place.
