Hello I am new here but I enjoy this site a lot. I wanted to put a coating on my forge's ceramic wool liner to improve the efficiency and hopefully increase the temperature it gets to. I was going to order ITC 100 but I clicked on the button for ITC 296 by mistake. It came in the mail and I wonder if I should use it or return it to the store and get ITC 100. The descriptions seems to say they do about the same thing. Will the ITC 296 work for what I want? Thanks Todd

Todd,

I guess, if it was me, I'd talk directly to the manufacturer. Asking for the chemists can often be better than asking for the sales department.

ITC-296 is a fine surface ceramic coating for melting crucibles. It will work OK for a forge lining. ITC-100 is a general purpose ceramic coating and is top-coated with the ITC-296 in large melting crucibles to glaze the surface.
