It's 7 am and it is COLD

It has been pretty mild here, the lowest temp I've heard this winter was 0°. We are in the middle of a major drought-8 years now. When we get snow it can get real cold. This is about as low elevation as NW New Mexico gets at 5400'. Chama, NM, at 7400'+ about a hundred miles east of here was -17° a week or so ago.

We had a long wetter than normal period from the mid 70s to mid 90s. The coldest I have been in NM was in 1976 in a place called San Mateo when it got down to -35° after a 2' snowfall.

It stays real cold longer in New England than it does here, but we may have a shorter growing season, depending on the drought.

We have been getting 4" to 6" a year for the last few years. I would trade for some colder winter if we got some of that snow. If it weren't for the rivers flowing out of the Sab Juan Mts of SW Colorado, very few people could live here.

I'm dyin for summer to arrive

When it gets here it will just be hot and humid. I try to enjoy what I have, when I have it!;)

Hey Kile, I've been watching the weather up there from down here in the bananna belt. I never thought I'd be tickled about being only 20 below like it has been here for the last week or so but it's at least 10 degrees warmer than you!
It warmed up to a balmy 0 today in Southern Minnesota with a couple more inches of snow coming. We are shooting for a high of 10 and if it gets that hot, we're breaking out the shorts, suntan lotion and coronas.

Hey Mike, I've always thought of a Cottonwood as a low land tree. The name of the town you live in is kind of deceptive. At 3500 feet I can see where it would get alittle chilly...

Raymond,
I don't know if they are a lowland tree, or not, but we have them all along the river here, by the hundreds. Some of them are really huge.

about two weeks ago we had -26F not counding wind chill
for the better part of the week
Brrrrr
last year we had 13days that didn't get above 0 all day.
$600.00 per month to heat the house and shop with oil..that sucked..

one of the last storms we got, we had 18" of snow and in Rangeley
a ways off from here, but still in Maine, they got 41" of snow that storm.
 :)

Well it's almost 8:00 p.m. and the temperature is about 54 degrees F,
it's actually been a pretty cold winter here so far in North Florida. The temperatures have been in the low to mid twenties at night pretty regularly!:D Don't worry, sometime in September when all you guys are getting those wonderful crisp Autumn days, I'll post and tell you the temperature. We get temperatures in the upper 90's (with humidity 80-90% as well) as late as Halloween!
