Gettin' ready for San Antonio; forging Damascus in a heat wave; I need a break!

How 'bout finishing out a little Camp Knife for the table...7 1/2 inch,clay-hardened W-2 blade, with Desert Ironwood scales, and some 416 Stainless fittings.

Yeah, I know it's got some decoration, but it's tough, and who wouldn't rather trudge into the wilderness with a pretty lady...

Now off to Paul, for a really pretty set of boots...

Hadda add this! Paul does his stuff, and I quote, "That's prime Beaver-Butt in the insert."

That knife is sweet and the ironwood is extra-pretty - lots of nice red tones. How did you finish the handle? In the middle pic it looks like it has a slight gloss to it. This will be a nice snag for someone at San Antonio.

Roger,

......"the ironwood is extra-pretty - lots of nice red tones. How did you finish the handle?"

----6000 grit and elbow grease---

6000 grit - wow - worth the effort. Easy for me to say, of course....

That knife is functional art! Im not really into traditional knives but when I see a good looking damascus or large wooden handled Bowie I like them.Combining the two is A+.

It never ceases to amaze me what they are doing with plastic these days. That almost looks like real wood!

I'll be looking for it, John, and don't worry i think I can polish that squiggly looking line off the blade.:D

Wow! Wish I was going to be around to pick that one up. Nice!

That's a good looking knife. Fit/finish looks impeccable.

Really like the handle shape.

The blade looks like it grew out of the guard John. Your fit and finish is tops. Lin

It Definately Makes Me Want To Go Camping. This One's Got To Be One Of The Coolest Camp Knives I've Seen In a While.Keep Up The Fantastic Work John-Whether It Be Fighters,Bowies Or Camp Knives. You Definately Rock Which Ever Of The Before Mentioned Knife Types You Shoot For,Especially A Long 10" Slim Bladed Fighter You Made Last Year I Think. It Had A Scuplted Ironwood Slim Handle & A Wide Bronze Guard.I Missed snagging It By Seconds.

Everytime you post a thread John it's a real treat. I am in awe.

Just gorgeous in every way.

Nice one John! I like that blade shape a lot for a camp knife, substantial, with a little curve thrown in.

I'm pretty sure it's flat ground, but the first pic almost looks hollow?

Nice work man, can't wait to see you in a few weeks.

Beautiful stuff, John. It will have no trouble finding a new owner.

:) My forge has seen little use since the latest heat wave has set in. My supply of last winter's damascus is gone though so I'm going to have to start firing it up for more than a couple of hours at a time like I have been doing. :) If our weather here in the Ozarks is any indication, I'm sure that the temperatures are brutal down your way.

Good luck in San Antonio.

Gary

Mmmm... lovely.... It's a knife after my own heart.

Now if it were just a wee bit bigger...

Really, I dig it. The peaked spine, and hand domed pins make the whole knife for me.
