In a recent sales transaction I had with WValtakis, he surprised me when his funds arrived via USPS priority mail, inside the box was the funds but also wrapped up in bubble wrap was a very nice Congress pattern Primble folder, model 5514, in really nice shape, all blades are in good condition, no blade play at all and pull is about perfect on all 4 blades, really surprised me and it was a welcome one at that!

It measures about 3 3/4" closed with two back springs working the four blades. Love the pinned shield and the stepped bolster look too. This will make a great carry and whittling companion.

Here are a few images taken tonight;

I'm so glad you like it Gary, it really is quite a nice knife...It just never stood a chance at knocking a whittler out of my pocket ;). I'm thrilled it will get some sorely deserved love and attention :)

Thanks again Chip and yes guys, it is a very nice gesture and knife. Just oiled up the joints and sharpened the sheepsfoot blade to quite a keen edge!

Beauty! :) Nicely done Chip

Thanks for sharing the story of your "bonus", Gary, and congratulations on that commendable, and charismatically captured, congress!!:thumbup:
3 cheers for Chip, recognizing his generosity and his admirable policy of moving knives along to folks who will appreciate/use them more than he will!!:cool:

(G2, I noticed you recently had a link to a thread showing how to make a nice lanyard. Do you happen to have a link to how you set up for your indoor photos? Is some kind of "slide viewer lightbox" involved? With winter here, I need to find a way to take photos that doesn't depend on sunny days!)

Thanks GT and yes, using a light box to help with indoor photos, in fact the one with the Stetson in the photo the light box was turned on it's side providing the light for that shot

here is a link to that thread that shows the lightbox setup

Thanks for the link, Gary!
I have almost no photography knowledge (to me, "ISO" might mean "I strike out!"), but that thread illustrates many lighting principles that even I might be able to take advantage of with my old point&shoot Canon. Maybe I won't have to wait until spring for my next knife photo! (Now I just have to convince my wife to let me try her Creative Memories lightbox for a variety of experiments.)

Thanks Net and Rockon and you are welcome GT

I almost forgot to mention, I also got a nice surprise when the pen arrived. Gary packaged it in a very nice presentation/storage box when he shipped it, it will be great for a couple folders and accessories when traveling I think :) Thanks again Gary.

Glad you liked that, it's a box that we use to get from our supplier out of Germany for sensors we use in our equipment, but they've stopped sending them in those boxes so they are harder to get a hold of, being the pack rat that I am, I'm always on the look out for that type of thing and find them to be just the thing for storage of folders and the like.

4 Blades indeed!

It's been very helpful at work, nice size and quite sharp

Another great surprise! My wife texted me to say there was another package from Gary. Of course she wanted to open it since I'm at work and she can't handle not knowing "What's in the box?"...So she checked it out for me. Inside were a couple more very nice presentation/storage cases and a wheat penny for the Primble! Thanks again Gary, I'm sure the boxes will be put to good use and the penny will wind up in my wallet as a (hopefully) Lucky Penny :)

You're welcome Chip, it's good to keep the wife guessing ;)

Glad the boxes will be put to good use sir and I really appreciated that John Primble folder a great deal.
