Well a name may not be everything, but still makes a difference. Definately following this up with a best model names, but what are the coolest knife maker names? I still dont know too many brands but i like the outdoorsy names (Buck, Grayman) and signature designer names (Chris Reeve, Allen Elishewitz)

Fixed Blades: Bo Randall, Mike Stewart, Jerry Busse, D'Alton Holder, Warren Osborne, Jerry Hossom, Bob Loveless, Bob Dozier, Jeff Randall, Tom Krein, Daniel Koster, Eric Fehrman, Bill Harsey . . . there are just too many to mention them all.

I don't think it has to do with the name at all. I can recall names of people who I would have forgot long ago for the sole reason that they make knives.

I don't get it.

Are you asking for the names of the makers who make the best knives or the knife makers with the best names?

Of the latter, my favorite is Dirk McStabberson. Little known maker, OK knives, great name.

I don't really get it either ......

I also don't care about names. I like knives that are either great cutters or wont break when destroying stuff.

TOPS has great names...."Cockpit Commander" always makes me giggle.

Is that what we are going for?

Well a name may not be everything, but still makes a difference.

If a knife was judged by its name, then brands like Dark Ops or Red Skorpion 6 would win...

Its all in a name meaning it doesnt even matter about the knife (product), only guideline is that it is a brand name for a knife. Kind of a broad and dumb question that is difficult to answer because there is always a strong brand/product association, but I like psychology even though its hard to comprehend.

To me if the name shaped the product:

Rogue Warrior Knives sounds cool
CRKT knives sounds bad
Boker sounds cool
Boye sounds bad
Kershaw sounds cool
Izula sounds bad

Signature/designer names sound great to me too because it personalizes what the product represents. If your mom and dad gave you a great name like James Bond than by all means market your name on a great product

It would be interesting to see if there is any correlation between each others picks even though we all have difference tastes

So.....we are talking about knife makers with cool sounding names, like Dirk McStabberson....not knife makers who make cool knives.

Right? Yes?

And by "bad" you mean "not good"?

My head hurts.

I'm surprised Kit Carson hasn't been named. Also want to mention Steel Warrior as it sounds like something made in China..........oh yeah, it is made in China.;)

What are you trying to say? That the quality of the knife to you depends solely on the name of the maker?

You can take this as personally as you want, but how old are you?

Out of curiousity, how old are you?

I think where he says:

"To me if the name shaped the product:"

It is pretty clear that he is saying that the name sounds cool, not that the product is better because of the name.
