It's amazing how much money you can save just by keeping change.

And it's surprising how fast it builds up too. Thats how i buy alot of my knives, and i just saved up enought to get a quark mini 123. :D

I try to put aside about 10 bucks a week, that builds up pretty quickly.
Or if I'm really good, I can manage 20
mind you this is coming from a poor student, so this might not seem much to some.

Nice!

Me, I like debt. :o :D

I have the Quark Mini 123 too and it is a pocket rocket. Slight greenish tint to mine but bright as hell.

Yes! Someone else who gets it.

I'm always astonished at people who say they can't afford something because it's too expensive.
If you have a house and kids, you are excused, otherwise people have only their uncontrolled spending habits to blame.
(I bet Fast food and movies end up costing thousands of dollars a year for most people.)

You've inspired me to create a "knife fund" Mason jar.

I want a ZT 0350 soooooo bad and this is how I'll pay for it. I just ordered the Regulator and Swamp Warden so I cant justify spending any more right now (I'm poor and in college too) and this will be a great way to get the ZT in my pocket!

Thanks!

Yup.I always pay with bills & save the change.I average around a $100. a month in my change jar. That money ALWAYS goes towards a knife.

I do the same - when I walk into the house after errands, etc., all my change goes in my Mason jar in the bedroom. I end up with at least $60-70., if not more, every couple of months.

thx - cpr

I do the same thing. My Wife thought it was a pain to save it ,roll it up ,and take it to the bank, But the last time I got a little over two hundred dollars. She doesn`t make fun of me anymore.

I've started to put the coin money from my pocket into a large piggy bank. Just have to tell my other family members to start contributing to it too.

New knife fund sounds great. :)

Kind regards, -Spinner

I save my coins and every month I cash them in and split the money between my neice and nephew. At 10 & 7 they think 20-30 bucks is a lot of money.

I spend my change, but keep my pennies in a half-gallon whiskey bottle. Takes about two years to fill up...holds about $27.50. The very first time we filled it up, we filled it with mixed change, and it held $185.50.

Of course at the moment i don't have a job, so no income, means saving only tiny amounts, but the one and 2 dollar coin idea is good, I try to save them, but usually need them for bus ticket or to top up my go-card (prepaid
"cashcard" for public transport)

If you stop using all change, it will make you get more because you will be breaking bills every time you buy something. So, you can see why it adds up so fast!:D

but the way I see it, is if I use that change, say the 2 or 3 bucks left over, I won't have to break a 5 or ten dollar note, or if I'm really good a 20, and then I can put that 5, 10 or 20 dolar note away in my mini savings box.

but what your saying is also a good way to do things

Over the last couple of years, I've amassed over $600 in change. Got a little counting tray-contraption that only fits certain amounts of each coin into these little troughs for ease of counting.

Anyway, times are tough, and I've taken to spending my hoard of coins when carrying them isn't too burdensome.

I save change but also took it a step further. I hate having a bunch of one dollar bills in my wallet so now they get saved with the change as well. The dollars are my Busse fund.

I now have the "Knife fund" jar sitting next to my bed. I threw in $20 just to get a good start.

Of course I want the ZT 0350 and now I found a boot knife a custom maker sells for $150 that I need...yes I said need... :)

There's always been a change bowl on my nightstand. I drop my change in at the end of the day. When I cashed it in last, (about a year ago) I had almost $200!!!!!! Nice little surprise.
