Another Busse Folder or Buyers Regret???

On the site that shall not be referenced....

jerry said there would be others.its the same seller, but this knife has a different blade shape.probably there were a few different protos made.

Eh, I don't like that one so much. Not a fan of recurves. Regardless of my preference though, that is a serious breach of trust. :thumbdn: :grumpy:

Correct.

Who is this d-bag selling all these folders, anybody know?

I know who the person is as I talked to him for a long time after I bought the first folder he put up. If you don't know the person, then why are you calling him a d-bag? He was a pleasant person to talk to and says there was never an agreement to not sell the folders (he had six total, five still), only to wait a couple of years until Jerry got the patent. He said he had waited over five years and since Jerry got the patent, he felt he fullfilled his obligation. He said since he only bought knives as an investment, that if there had been a stipulation that the folders couldn't ever be sold, he never would have bought them. He bought many many Busse knives as an investment and sold most all of them, these are some of the few he has left.

Randucci, thank you for that information. The reason I called him that is in reference to my opinion of his actions based on the response Jerry gave from the first folder going up. My over all impression of Jerry's statement is that he was disappointed by the fact it was selling. Fortunately it ended up in your hands and not in someone else's that would perhaps exploit the ingenuity of the knife.

I know there are always two sides to every story. That was this seller's side and I don't think Jerry will go into any more detail about his own version but my gut feeling is Jerry's version will be a little different.

I cannot say I apologize because I am still under the impression that Jerry is not happy with these cropping up right now. Who knows, this could jeopardize the future possibility of a production folder and I, for one, want a Busse folder. And I am not willing to pay over $1000 to get one.

Sorry if my comment offended you because it is not meant to. I have the utmost respect for you based on your reputation and conduct here, so please do not take it as such.

I just think if this seller feels he has upheld his obligation, the polite thing to do would be to call Jerry and clarify that point. Making sure that Jerry feels the same way and not basing his decision to sell on an assumption.

I'm not offended as the comment/label wasn't directed at me. I'm just saying the selling or no selling of the folders is between Jerry and the folders owner and that we shouldn't be calling him names.

I don't blame the seller one bit for wanting to offload that thing.

I saw pictures of all six and I liked the blade profile on the one I got the best by far, that is why I jumped on that one instead of waiting to see if the others were going to be cheaper later.

:D

It is interesting that, currently at least, there is a statement in the description saying it is a no reserve auction but the bid section still says 'Reserve Not Met'. It also looks like, in the top down view, the area around the lock release is pretty chewed up, I wonder what happened to it.

It is not "chewed up", the end mill machining marks were not blended/cleaned up.

things that make you go EEK.

I am not a fan of those folders.

;)

I know what you mean. I liked it a LOT better when we had no idea what they looked like. I could use my imagination and pretend. Now the cat is out of the bag, it is kind of underwhelming.

I will not go as far as calling the guy a douche bag, but he definately ruined one of the fun mysteries of the Busse brand. I sure never see demands for folder thread around here anymore.:thumbdn:

C'mon folks :( it's a free country. It should not matter that these have not been seen before by most of us, nor should it matter why the seller is selling them. It's his/her business. The only thing that should make a difference is if he broke his word to Jerry. Tim (Ducci) says that the seller told him that he and Jerry NEVER had an agreement that the knives would never be sold, but only that they would not be sold until Jerry got the patent. I believe Tim and the seller. I can understand why Jerry would not want them floating around until he got the patent, but why would he prohibit an owner from selling one if the owner needed to??? That makes no sense to me.

I do not know the seller, but for everyone here who is gainfully employed, out of debt, and secure in their homes with their families, please just consider the possibility that maybe the guy is just trying to keep food on his table as best as he can. Even if there was an agreement to not sell a knife, I think Jerry would understand if the owner found themselves in that uncertain position.

Now, let's get back to drinking!!!

I have my Busse Folder :)
