It's difficult to imagine a better edc knife than the Spyderco Para 3 SPY27...

When I was fifteen, I had a Buck Stockman and an Uncle Henry Schrade, and I thought they were the best knives in the world. I wish I still had them. But, after purchasing the Spyderco Para 3 in SPY27 steel, it's difficult to imagine a better edc knife in the world today.

Huh.....What happened to the AD-10, the SR-1, the Voyager, etc etc etc.....

I only like the lightweight flavor of the PM3: the standard config has a lanyard hole that forces the clip out of position, sacrificing ergos and creating a hot spot for me. It’s also difficult to find one with a centered blade.

I’m glad it works for you, but in my opinion it’s a flawed knife.

Knife on!

I prefer the PM2. The PM3 just isn’t enough smaller to make a difference in my opinion. They‘re both great knifes but mainly because there isn’t much difference between the two.

I can agree with this... Well, I don't have the spy 27 steel.
But the para 3 is a preferred carry.

Welcome aboard. Glad you managed a "one and done". I am not that lucky, I like variety:
My 3" EDC folders: Small Sebenza, Buck/Mayo TNT, Chaparral, Sage 1, Para 3 Maxamet. Joining the team: the fluted CF Native, still in the honeymoon phase.

Congrats on your purchase. You’ve picked a great knife that will last you several years! If you continue to pursue the knife hobby you’ll discover other knives that are also terrific. Half the fun of the hobby is developing a curiosity with regard to the multiple offerings out there and the willingness to explore them. And you’ve picked a great place for that learning to happen. This forum contains a wealth of both information and experience. Welcome! 👍

should I introduce you to the spyderco gb2? : ) with cpm-m4 steel ... for me, it's the best spydy period

Para3 lw Spy27 is an excellent knife for sure. It's my dedicated gym shorts carry knife. I'm very impressed with the steel.

Not my ideal carry knife, not a big fan of frn. I also agree that the standard Para 3 is flawed with the clip and hole arrangement.

That is a fabulous knife. The only problem I have with it is that the steel is not good for corrosion resistance, which is a must for any knife I carry.

I have a P3 LW in SPY27 that I carried once and put back in the box, probably a year ago. It's the only knife I have like that, that I don't at least pretend to keep into the rotation. I just can't get excited about the LW version of the P3, and whenever I do carry one for a beater task, it's my 20CV copy. I probably should move the SPY27 down the road to someone like the OP who would properly appreciate it.
