It's difficult to imagine a better edc knife than the Spyderco Para 3 SPY27...

The action on my LWs is just OK with the single side washer, but it's nothing like my buttery smooth P3 G-10. Also, the scales feel kind of flimsy to me, a tiny bit squishy in some areas. I know they are strong enough to do the job, and I don't mind the Nylon 6/6 grip frames on my pistols, but I guess it's a feel thing with the P3 LWs, and to a lesser extent my Salts.

Not my intention to dump on the OPs new knife, just musing on personal preference. The LWs are very functional knives, and a lot of folks prefer them.

After going away from and coming back to the Para 3 I have found it to be a fantastic edc knife. Feels good in hand, great steel selections, and feels capable for most tasks. I found that for most of my daily needs I don't need or prefer a longer blade and a lot of the issues people have with the platform have solutions available. Enjoy it, use it and be content. For me this has become my default carry at the moment.

Para 3 may have been an ideal edc for me if I was 12. Now that I’m 44 and wear an XXL glove the handle is too short.

I'm fond of P3LW for summertime LW carry. Size, weight and that wire clip just work for me then. Mine's not Spy 27, it's some alphabet steel that is perfectly acceptable to me. Toughest things it's likely to cut are watermelon, a sandwich or a piece of sausage.

The perfect EDC knife depends on the individual, his needs, and his preferences. Many believe in different blades for different chores, some use one knife for practically everything. One's preferences may also vary from time to time. Regardless of what some might have you believe, there's really no bad knife steel, provided one chooses makers wisely. There are some steels used for knives that really have no business being used for knives, but that's a bean-counter thing, and nothing to do with real life. And the majority of consumers will never know the difference.

You, speaking to the OP here, seem to have a better than average idea what's going on, and have chosen accordingly. Kudos!!

For me, the perfect EDC knife is two of them. A White River Sendero Classic, a 4-1/2" S35VN fixed blade, is my daily driver, and for the last couple of years I've found no fault in a $35 Ruike P-108, in 14C28N. I always ask, but if I like a knife, steel is not at the top of the list of things I deem important.

It’s easy for me to imagine a better one, as no knife that isn’t a flipper is a perfect EDC for me. Plus the Para 3 sits too wide in the pocket and has a usable blade length for the size of knife issue. Other then that it’s ok
