Its finally Raining in FLORIDA,, Thank GOD!!

SunnyD, I know how you feel, buddy! I live about 400 miles north of you and we didn't get near enough rain up here to make up for what's missing, but it sure was nice to see some anyway. That rainy day yesterday was good for body and soul. Now, if we can just get half a dozen more tropical storms like that one it really will help us all. This one helped a lot with the fires, though.

Our Lake Jackson next to US-27 went mostly dry several years ago like it does maybe every 20-25 years. The bottom falls out of it when the limestone caverns below it collapse. It's a cycle that has repeated for all of recorded history, but this time it's been even worse because of the below normal rainfall amounts we've had since the bottom gave way. Lake Jackson is in pathetic shape now, and it may never return to the great bass lake it once was. It looks terrible!

Hey, I've been meaning to ask you who that is holding the big Bowie in the photo next to your user name. He looks kind of familiar, like I should know who he is. My mind wants to tell me it's somebody famous back in the '50s.

Hello Doc,

Hey there my northern neighbor, I am very glad to hear you all got some much needed rain as well. "Good for Body and Soul" is very well put indeed. We got pummeled down here on my property in the 2004 & 2005 hurricane seasons and spent well over 30k putting in repairs because of the damage the storms caused and though I may regret saying this later, I am actually looking forward to a few nice wet storms this year.... :o.. :D

My avatar is of the late Mr. Ruana. That is Rudy Ruana one of the fathers of the modern hand made, hand forged Custom Knifemakers movement of the 20th century. His knives are second only to William Scagel in my book.

Blessings,
