Its Gone...OMG ...its all Gone...what did I do...!!

Between 2000 and 2002 I was forced to sell my entire collection to pay bills. Probably got .40 on the dollar.

I remember crying after selling a socom D/A for $100 to a "friend" cause that's all he "could spare".

I kept thinking it would be fun to rebuild when times got better.

Nope, cannot find most of the knives I sold and certainly not for what I sold them for!!!

I know where you're coming from, Ren. I have a whole bunch of production knives I'd like to get rid of, but it's kinda hard, due to the fact that I don't live in the USA. Dunno what I'm going to do with them. I do not want to keep knives that I don't use. I'd like to reduce my modest collection to the essential, and after that just buy certain kinds of items, mostly customs and CRKs.

I go through the same thing from time to time. I look at all my knives and say, I need something different! Then go in a different direction. Spring is here, time to reevaluate my knives again :D

A little OT, but Morgoth, you've gotta get the kiwi. Mine is nicely worked in now and feels "alive" in my hands. I started carrying it horozontal on my hip in a kydex sheath, oriented for spyderdropping. I don't even have to do that though, I've found that if I pinch the hole between my thumb and forefinger as I pull it out and give the the bone handle slab a little poke with my middle finger and it almost flings itself open into my palm. As it swings open my middle finger slides right into the lower choil and it's ready to go. Open before it even clears the hem of my t-shirt.

The ergo's on this knife are nuts, it is like it's locked in your hand. Sheeple friendly too.

;) That is so unfair taunting me like that!

Haha, yeah I have to wait till I'm out from under my parents roof though. They've basically wiped out my knife collection and banned me from getting more. :footinmou College is just a few months away, so the wait isn't that bad.
-Kevin :)

Edited to add: Actually I should mention I have started to collect again, and am now up to 5 knives. (Buck 110, Buck 303t, 104ot, Uncle Henry Senior Rancher with Jigged Derlin, and Kershaw Vapor.)

I have sold nearly all my knives (I had 6 in total, lol...im poor) and I made a little over 700 bucks. I have ONE knife left, and its my BM3000 auto, I simply love the thing to death. 35k Ren? You need to buy yourself a bike and a russian bride and call it a day. Thats all you need, a bike, a russian bride, and a knife.

HOLY CRAP!!!!

1500 knives must have been quite a site to see. There are stores that I would bet have less inventory than that!

Have fun with the next round of collecting.

How did you unload so many knives, E-bay..here...somewhere else?

I have felt the same as you. Many knives have caught my attention and then after the initial excitement they went in the safe.

I started Collecting when I was about 12 and my dad let me keep the knife I found in the garage. It was my Grandfathers. Over the next few years my parents bought me several knives and my Grandparents gave me all the knives left in the drawers. Both sides of my families had Barber shops, Well My Greatgrandfather was more of a pool Shooter and Gambler in the Backroom but he did cut hair sometimes. I now have some that I have collected for the purpose of passing on to my children. It took some effort but I got two limited eddition Benchmade balisongs that are numbered 54/100..my badge number.

Those straigt Razors and Pocket knives I will not part with but many of my Productions are on the verge of being liquidated.

I'm down to 3 that I use routinely.

Buck / Mayo TnT
Dozier K1 General Utility
Entrek Companion

The rest is just fluff. I keep thinking I should just sell them all.

I'm also thinking I might toss the Entrek and go with a Dozier Pro-Guides knife.

Sure don't need 50 knives though...

RTDT - remember the line from "Gladiator" - "...all we are is shadows and dust..."

I have about $10K market value sitting in a case. I rotate about $2K per week (maybe 4 pieces) and that is it. What is that other $8k doing there?

When its gone, its gone - unimportant and move on to the next thing.

Hey, Ren - maybe you and I can help each other - I'm looking to dump about half of my collection for cash. I haven't collected nearly as many as you did, but I do have alot more than I need or carry.

Would you be interested in a "package deal" at a reduced "bulk rate"? If this is a possibility, I'll send an email / private message with the details of what I have for sale (about 17 knives, from Benchmade, Spyderco, CRKT, Emerson, SOG, Camillus, etc.)

Regards,
bls

I've been unloading knives I thought I'd never part with. About the only ones I use are a few SAKs, a bocote inlay Mnandi, and a Schrade Sharpfinger. I've sold 1 Sebenza, and considering selling the other as well as my Umfaan. I would like to eventually pick up a couple more Mnandis. Still have a few beaters laying around that aren't worth trying to sell and a few "cheapies" that will go back on the block in the near future.
