my Black Box arrived today, I loves it! way more nimble in the hand then the BeastK2...it's a serious piece of hardware for sure.
Played with it in the fire-destroyed house I'm working in....the King will drive right through a hollowcore door in a most satisfing manner. Chopped thru plywood (Not chipboard) like it was tissue, chops all the way to the spine into pine doorframes. No pics, phone was safely in the truck.
Got a chance to take some pics and do a lil testing when I got home this afternoon...it WILL outchop my SOG.....no debating +/- 7 strokes this time, Becker FTW.
does all my wood working needs flawlessly.
I knew the newer ones dont come with the remora....but I was still a lil sad to see the empty sheath, on a positive note the survival pouch is a perfect size for an emergency pack of smokes LOL
I got put on KP...
obligatory Excalibur shot
sorry, camera didnt come on this trip, just phone pics for now.
the BK9 was razor sharp from the box, after a day of use it's still popping hairs off my arm...sharpest Becker from the box so far.
I love this blade, it's gonna be my go-to wood cutter, my BeastK2 is gonna be my backup and chop-up crazy sh*t Becker lol
Stripped, Butt pommel and Thumbramp ground off, stippled the grips with soldering iron.
Anyone who has the grivory, try the stippling!!! it is amazing the difference it makes...maybe the best thing i have done to a Becker yet! love it...just remember to hit it with some 'paper after, I hit it with some 150 lightly then sanded it with 1,000 grit.
*just patinaed it, smeared with an orange & let it sit, then brushed on french's mustard & let it sit some more, then poured lemon juice over it & sit again, then brushed all the bare spots with some BBQ sauce and, you guessed it, let it sit some more. after an hour & half or so total, I rinsed it off and wrapped it in a white vinegar soaked towel for about an hour. I like the look, really darkened it down, interesting lil details.
Sprayed/dusted the grips with a lil Chevy Competition Orange.
need to get my camera and take some decent pics...patina not really showin up and the grips dont look that bright in real life
*better pics
