It's hard to believe it's only five minutes away.

I haven't hiked Monadnock in years. A nice "short" climb for tubbies like me.

Washington? I don't think I'd ever climb it.

Why?

It was 46 degrees at the summit today. The weather-changes are extreme and spectacular. They have snow up there into July. Too unpredictable to me. That and it's a pretty hard climb. . . for us tubbies. LOL

Holy Smokes! ! ! !

Any one of those pics would make for a great postcard!!!!

Killer Pics Man!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I lived in Massachusetts, I climbed there often. It was about 30 years ago though!
I remember they had easy trails and hard trails, and at the top, the one side was like a sheer drop off.

New Hampshire is a beautiful part of the States. I was there 2 weeks ago visiting a friend in Peterborough. If I ever moved to the US it would be my first choice.:)
(buy the way this pic was taken last September)

Your pics are awesome. Thanks for sharing!

Looks familiar. :D

Do yourself a favor, next time you find yourself that close to the Mt, hike it! On a weekday morning there is hardly a soul there.

50 minutes? That's serious time! Good on you!

Yeah, I'm trying to be able to beat my time each day I hike it. In the end I want to be able to full sprint it up and down.

Monadnock has something for everyone. There are gradual trails, and steep trails. The white dot can be considered hard if you keep a fast paced, but the spellman trail I would consider advanced. The reward is, on the spellman there is NO ONE on it.

As far as Washington, it's in a world of its own, I'm very much looking forward to our hike there at the end of summer. Washington in the winter will be majestic though, by the time I do it in the winter (I haven't yet), I'll hopefully have 15 or so snow/ice hikes up Monadnock. It's funny, people will hike Washington in the middle of summer in shorts and a t shirt. When they break the wall they REALLY wish they packed pants and a jacket. Seeing someone skiing in July in a small spot of the Mt is not unheard of. Hell I was finding snow in hidden parts of Monadnock in June. I do know my Basic 11 will be accompanying me this time up Mt Washington.

I will be back next year after Blade and maybe we can get together and you can "guide" me up the easy beginner trail. I am a old fat man and I don't want to fall down and damage the scenery:foot::p

Last November we had a bunch of guys from church head to Monadnock Bible Camp for a mens weekend. It was BITTER cold on Saturday. It was in the 20's at the "camp" with a strong wind.

This Russian Steppe transplant did his normal running hike up and back on it. Said it was nothing. :O I was cold just walking from the caf to the chapel. LOL

New Hampshire is a beautiful state. My Father in law lived there for for a while. My wife and I would visit, usually during the winter though. NH has some great snow skiing.

Great pics. Thanks for sharing.

The only flaw in Florida's geography is the lack of mountains.
Nice Pics, Thanks.
