its haunting my dreams!!!!

hahaha my wife collects panda bears! she has a table in the kitchen with a glass top, and everytime i am half asleep, i bump into that dang panda table. i swear the dang bear laughs at me!! hhhmmm, maybe my next obsession will be destroying that table?? naw, the knives are to interesting!!

well, my oldest sister lives at home with mama, she just got a divorce, i couldnt tell u where the other 6 are. but i will gladly find'em for ya if u want'em!

serious question, does gerber own the rights to winchester knives? a guy just told me that here at work, i never heard of it. i have seen the cheapys at wal-mart, but no reference to gerber at all. now that winchester FIREARMS is closing, wonder how that will effect the old knives?

sorry to change the subject glenn, but as u see, my nerves are frayed!!!

A quick search shows Blue Grass Cutlery putting Winchesters on the market right now.

Gerber does own the rights to the offshore made Winchesters, readily seen in WalMart. Well, actually, Fiskars (think orange handled scissors, readily seen in WalMart) owns those rights...since they own Gerber. As Glenn mentioned, Blue Grass (Scott & Dorton...maybe others) still owns the rights to have the higher end ones made in the U.S.A. (by Queen, I believe).

Start sending fellows one at a time its like the young bull and old bull going to meet the herd. I will walk slow since I want to meet them all. I have a lot of knives and have been wondering what to do with them.

On a historical note in the 1800's there is a story of an English sailing vessel which was on a botanical mission to the South sea Islands ( similar to the Bounty story only everyone got along together ). The island they anchored at was habitated by a typical tribe of islanders. Plenty of young pretty ladies who's propensity toward clothing was minimal and who in many case had breasts still defying gravity.

Now the second main activity on this island was fishing and fishing with a net is OK but using a fishbone fish hook just don't make it. Well these sailors soon found out the there was not much these young ladies or I guess native guys ( if that is your thing and it was the thing of a lot of English sailors ). Ever hear of the term Poggie bait that was candy sailors would buy to lure children onto there ships for ( er ) Cabin boy duty. Anyway thats another story. Back at the island it was soon realized by the sailors that one iron nail ( which could be bent into a fish hook) could be used in trade for a number of goods but especially services. Needless to say this created an entirely new econony as well as currency. ( Much like cigarettes and candy bars during WWII ). Well the bottom (pun) line was that after a while the ship started to fall apart and sink ( it seems nails began to go missing ). So the old leaking Lena or whatever the ship was named headed back to England taking with it some great memorys and leaving behind numerous unnamed half european children a lot of technlogicly enchanced natives ( since now they had iron fish hooks ) and a on hand introduction to european diseases such as syphillous and TB.

Glenn, I am a true CAT LOVER. Fate has made this of me after all I do sleep with two of them .

Trust me Youth is only underated by the young.

It is none of my business but it would seem that if your spouse is only interested in collecting Panda bears you might want to encourage her mission. Since you will I believe find that many of the feminine gender aspire to much more exotic hobbies such as other men and oh yes MONEY. They also seem to like Credit Cards.

I have found that being diplomatic is usually due to need. I was much more diplomatic when I had 5 kids a family and a mass of responsibilitys. Now that I am alone and fairly financially independent I can tell anyone I want to go to hell my only obligations are to my conscience, morality and honor. Frankly that is, I feel, more than enough if it is truly your goal.

I have no idea about Gerber I thought they made strained baby food. As far as Winchester personally most of what I own was made before 1964. There stuff was so good back then it never wore out. LT

interesting about winchester/gerber/fiskars. i have always associated winchester with china, and come to think of it, gerber makes alot of china knives too.

yea, i have to be truthful, i have a great wife. she cooks good, cleans well, and she is a devout christian. u are right, i should be glad she isnt out chasing guys or grubbing me for cash. she dont ask for much and she supports my knife habit and hunting habits.

hhhmmm, a island full of beauties?? heck, i could swim back!

as for those knives u are wondering what to do with....i am here!

For Fireman,

This is a kissin cousin to LT's Schrade. Its a Hammer/ NY Knife Co that belonged to Uncle John. He was a farmer in Elmira, kinda near LT. (only about 200 miles!)
Knife is 3 3/4" long Blades have seen lots of use and the blades are a bit short but are still solid. Brass liners and heavy as all get out bone handles. Walks and talks like new.
So you can look at Hammer and NY Knife for a suitable substitute for the Schrade and you'll still be in the family.

Tis the propellor shield that he lusts for. At least I believe that is a major part of it. Actually that knife was made in Walden 3 miles away and the power to make it came from the Wallkill River which I can see from my upstair window or back porch. LT

AAAAHHHH!!! THE TORTURE!! thanks guys! i found a super super nice remington in a antique store yesterday. lacks the propellor shield, but it is a awesome knife. has the badge shield, bone handles with no cracks, and the blades are spotless, they shine like a new dime. its the tear drop jack, just like the one in my pocket, but the one i have is so wore, the main blade looks like a hwkbill knife!!! guy says i can have it for $145, what ya'll think, to much? thanks irv, i am fixing to do a quick search on ebay.
