It's not that being blown away by a Fisk project is something new for me...

Dammit, Rog, all this anticipation and I get "photo deleted?" May you get a lump of coal in your stocking tomorrow morning!

Don't worry man - photo will be back in the a.m. - by then, panties should be unwadded and we can all admire Jerry's considerable skill and talent again.

It must be a fairly small group of people that ever got - or ever will get - the chance to see all these knives together in person. Chuck's photo is that much more impactful for that reason.

Actually, it's poor form to use pictures from someones album without express permission and possibly illegal.
Also poor form and against the rules to insult another member in the general forum/s.

I agree.

Yes - a photo site accessible to anyone. Stuff posted on the internet is presumptively not confidential. And if the name of the client were confidential, it likely would not have been included on a photograph posted to a photo site accessible to anyone.

Even thought Jerry and I are very good friend, I always ask his and/or Chuck's permission before posting their photos. Jerry of course wanted me to complete our previous thread on the sets, however asked me not to post the photo before Christmas. He didn't want to take the chance that his client's family members receiving the gifts would see the photo prior to their receiving/seeing the knives.

Even without the "copywrite, all rights reserved" warning that was clearly printed directly below the photo, what gave you the right to post the photo on a public forum on Christmas Eve knowing that the knives were Christmas presents without asking either Jerry or Chuck's permission?

You know, if there was a real issue with posting this, I suspect you would have sent me an e-mail explaining it and asking me to delete the thread - I'd have no problem with that.

Since Jerry had told me earlier in the week that he would appreciate the photo being posted, however not until after Christmas, I knew this was an issue. I also knew that if I sent you an email I would most likely received a condescending and sarcastic reply much like I often receive from your posts on this forum.

If, on the other hand, you just saw it as an opportunity to act like an arrogant ass and give me another one of your public dressings down, well, you might do exactly as you have done.

I will leave it up to others to judge whose acting like an arrogant ass here.
I thought it best for me to answer some questions which had been asked regarding the sets and mention that Jerry didn't want his client's full name mentioned or to have the photos posted until after Christmas. I hoped you would act like an adult and understand and temporarily remove the photo without all your drama. But then, you would have missed an opportunity for another argument and conflict which you seem to enjoy so much.

But out of an abundance of caution, I will remove the pic.
Hey, it wouldn't be a Christmas story without Scrooge.

I agree, and the Scrooge in this story was someone who had little concern in possibly lessening the impact of someone's Christmas gift.

Looking forward to seeing these pictures once they return...looks like I just missed the first showing!

Kevin and Roger....you both start/post some good, interesting, informative, sensible, and well thought comments on here....it's a shame you nearly always end up arguing.:thumbdn:

Saying that, these little written feuds usually give us all some food for thought.;):D

Merry Christmas to you all.:)

alright it is Christmas morning and after all this anticipation I cant wait to see these works of art.

Please lock this, and start another thread. Let's move on.

Coop

Well, I saw them, but I will promptly unsee them, and now that I've seen them, they were absolutely out of this world, but now unseen they are just a blank. I'm not really sure there was or is any damage done. Just a matter of hours now and they will be fondled and drooled over by whomever and I doubt the edge (no pun) will be taken off the excitement.

Thank you Paul, I quite agree.

Yes Kevin - that's a predictable response from you. As I said, if there was a genuine concern you could have sent an e-mail and not introduced such ugliness into a well-intended thread. Since you say you expected a sarcastic response - and if that had been actually your real concern - you could have had that unfold privately instead of publicly.

But you couldn't pass up an attempt to, yet again, make a public effort to make me look bad. You made that choice - don't try to shift the blame eslewhere.

Face it - anyone with eyes can see that what really has you bothered is that someone dared to intrude upon what you perceive as your exclusive franchise.

And since you don't know what the circumstances are as between Chuck and I regarding posting photos, maybe you should not presume. I don't make a point of asking Chuck permission each time I post one of his photos. Reason being that a) I had a talk with Chuck about this at Little Rock this year - about what a great resource his photo site is. He even showed me how to access hi-res versions of each of his photos instead of just the standard size shown. Chuck's photo site exists to promote the work of the makers he has shot and to promote his own considerable photo skills. As you know, he links his photo site to every post he makes on your forum. And just so we're clear - the 'all rights reserved' tag is something that rests inder every photo on his site - not something specially reserved for this photo as you have so misleadingly implied.

Your attempt to cast this as some underhanded covert incursion on my part is as offensive as it is laughable. I have posted countless pics from his site over the years - either to start discussion points or to contribute to them. I have recieved precisely zero complaints from Chuck or anyone. To the contrary, I have received many notes of thanks from the makers involved for showing their work. The only complaint in all that time has come from a predictable source, for an entirely transparent and petty reason.

Again, out of an abundance of caution, I have e-mailed Chuck to ask if I have in any way misunderstood what I perceived to be his general blessing to post photos from his site. If he tells me I have it wrong, you can be sure I will both aplogize and never post another again.

As for you Kevin - you just have a Merry Christmas, okay?

And for those who want to view the pic, just head to Chuck's site and have a gander:

I know looking at the pic again made my Christmas a little brighter - I hope it does the same for you all.

Roger

PS - belatedly taking Coop's advice and shutting this down. Something I have never had occasion to do in all my years on BF. But regrettably, it seems the better course.

I feel it necessary to add one addendum to clear my name - given that it has been suggested that not only have I done something inappropriate, but perhaps ILLEGAL. A suggestion heartily endorsed by Kevin Jones.

I have spoken with Chuck Ward. As I expected, he has no issue with me posting photos from his site to the forums - much as I have done on countless occasions and over many years. I apreciate Chuck takint time from his Christmas morning to provide that heretofore un-needed clarification.

Thanks for your attention and may I express my regrets to the forum that this thread has become something VERY far removed from what I had intended.

Roger
