It's official I am now cosidered "old"

Started carrying a knife when I was 5(Mom gave it to me).Made alot of "things"to play with...we were I guess...poor....but I didn't know that....nobody was rich. However a Ave.kept us away from the well off. JK.....I remember wearing coats, then I moved to Fl. I HATE cold.As I got older...acquired "knives".Had some for "diff"reasons(don't want to get "warned"so won't elaborate).Looked at "all"my knives & thought I've come along way since that "old"pocket knife. Now I will usually be found daily with 4...a small Buck stockman ,a Hoot Gibson large jack & two unmentionables! As for the rest customs & diff.makes & sizes. As for women....."gentlemen"(except for Kamalong hee!) sigh....my favorite has yet to be found....sooooo...the only thing to say is next!! Oh yeah one request....JK....want to read some more of your stories....quit walking & start write stories..."old"guys like em!

Great story. I guess I have been "old" for about 46 years as I've had a Case Trapper or Texas Jack in my front left pocket since I was 7. I don't think I will ever understand why most people won't carry a pocket knife.

It's a matter of perspective I guess. My daughter celebratred her 6th birthday earlier this month. After she blew out her candles, she and my nieces asked how many candles I'd need. When I told them the number, they said and I quote, "You're so old!"

It ain't age it's attitude! Ito walk with the help of a stick.Chicks dig it

Well, sorry, but my attitude toward being old is that it just sucks! I've not seen any chicks checking me out because of my cane; maybe it's because I'm just an old curmudgeon (but one who still loves knives).

I was 7 too! I found a rusted out old 3" Imperial Stockman while playing and digging around in the back yard. This little stockknife was duller the all my mom's butter knives so she let me keep it, that and I got sick right after finding it!

I'm getting old, don't know when I will get there?

But I'm working on it.....:D

Seems like I went threw so many knives when I was young, they're all like a blur now.

A few certain knives you remember more, like one you found or someone gave it to you.

The one that stands out the most for me, is a stacked leather handle fixed blade, that was carried in my dad's tackle box. (It was probably a Marble's)?
I was about 6 or 7 -(about 1969)- and I think I drooled on that knife.....:D

I smiled when I read this.
I have in my job a " key account" this workshop repairs between 110 and 115 cars a week to a very high standard for insurance purposes.
One day this Young Indian man Ashish ( he'd be 25 - 26 ) is his name came up to me and said - " Gee Duncan you work hard eh!" I replied - " yeah but we all work hard in here Ashish" he said back - " No no - I mean you work real hard " I again replied" Ashish we all do buddy" He said " yes - but for your age"!!!':o:grumpy:

I said " hey you cheeky little....,.," " how old do you think I am " - now I'm 52 - twice as big as this little fella- well he stood back - put his hands on his chin in thought while looking me up and Down as if I was for sale - then said " 65 - 68 " lol... He was serious the little *#% lol

I just about gave the boy a backhand :D

I'm 72 but nobody calls me old...except a young lady.At the gym,she had a box cut open. She was going to use a key!
I said let me help...pulled a little Buck stockman & cut it open. She thanked me & said...you carry a knife!! Then said may I see it ....she looked at it (in my hand)...She then smiled & said my grandpa used to carry a small knife like that.....do all old men carry a pocket knife?Do you carry it "every day"?? I said yep! Does your dad carry a pocket knife? She said no....I don't know anybody...but you who has a pocket knife!!Yep....I'm old!

Great story I carried some kind of knife since I was 5.

Must be true... Other than for my job back when I was in my 20s an early 30s, I never really carried a pocket knife regularly until my mid-50s. So clearly it's a sign of age. :)

Great story, but these days I don't let anyone see or use my knife. I'm 45 and while at work I had to open a ream of paper and I used my SAK. Woman actualy said to me "You carry a knife! Do you have a permit for it?" I looked at her like she was the village idiot from another planet and walked away. I say let them open stuff with their teeth.

After a couple of drinks, I often think about an early caveman who worked for a year on this invention, he called it a knife and it would open almost anything.

Hurtling forward thousands of years we have these more sophisticated men who when they need to open a package pull out their car keys or use their teeth.

Yup, early man was really primitive :)
