  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

it's puppy time, Where's your best friend?

n587203634_860074_7754.jpg

This is my buddy Snoopy, in his natural environment. He's a workin' dog, comes to work with me every day.

My pup's Trouble and Mama, Trouble is 8 now and Mama is 5 but they both act like goofy pups now and then. It is hard to believe that I could hold Trouble in 1 hand curled up when I first got him as he is about 75 lbs now. Both dogs are American Pit Bull Terrier's my girlfriend and I's favorite breed and we love them both very much! Best thing about dogs is how they make you laugh at the littlest things they do and love you unconditionaly.

We adopted her Saturday from the pound. Today was her first "off trail" hike.

Not mine, but one of my best friends nonetheless...neighbor's newfie (or landseer cousin anyway). I remember when he was a wee rollypoly that was too afraid to walk down stairs...:D

My Beagle Scout; At 3 years old she's still assumed to be a pup by most who meet her. She loves boat rides.

Here are mine minus one dobie who is off being a dobie.

Young Bert, the not-right dog, on leash and with bad back left leg.

Don't know how he got the groundhog to come close.

and, Most recent mistake, American Brittany (rescue dog), @3.5 years old, must not have been outside much, certainly never in country setting. Sweet, but...currently has crippled me by racing behind and then in front of me, lifting me off my feet with the leash and landing on shoulder blade and rib cage.

Angle Iron?

Young Bert is a German Wirehaired Pointer. He is 10.5 years old. He is my second wirehair and I could not recommend a breed more highly...especially for the sportsman/birdhunter. He too, was a rescue, and had been tied to a tree for 2.5 years in a suburb of Chgo. I live in rural Wisconsin, and he has been phenomenal, and is living the life he was bred for. Pheasants, ducks, rabbits...(he is a "versitile hunting dog") and (sigh) the occasional raccoon, and Ground hog (in picture), as well as two feral cats.

Outstand prey drive, great nose, perhaps the best retriever I've ever worked with. He is also funny, and smart.

I got the Britt from the rescue folks because I'm getting up in years and thought a smaller dog would be a better choice. But, without question, a wirehair is my choice for a hunter's dog. Do some reading, they may be interesting to you.

Best of luck.
