I don't envy the winter you folks in Europe are having. Sounds as though is isn't as bad where you are but still out of the ordinary.
We're at the other end of the spectrum here in southern Michigan. We should be snow covered and the lakes should be frozen. Out temps have been above freezing with a couple days close to record highs.

It has actually been unusually cold, -9c this morning, a temperature which is not seen most winters.
It is colder in Germany and horribly cold in Serbia. I heard the temperature in Ankara in Turkey got down to -20c.
There is 3 or 4" of snow out there now and it is still coming down. We seldom get much more than a light dusting here and in quite a few winters there is no snow at all.
Up until a few days ago this winter had been unusually mild with only a couple of overnight frosts and no trace of snow.
