It's Thirsty Thursday! (Or 5 O'Clock somewhere...)

Thanks! This thing is solid as a tank. No wobble. Great walk and talk. Snaps open and shut like a bear trap!

It's an unusual knife, too. Rosewood scales instead of bone. It also has a removable (and offset) bail. Most of the knives Camillus made with a bail for the Army were pinned.

Either way, I love this one!

It's the Camillus Army Post Exchange knife

Beauty Jordan! A great find!!
Is the handle wood, if so, doubly awesome!

Thanks! Yep, it's wood alright. I'm thinking Rosewood, which would be similar to some of the Navy rope knives Camillus made in Rosewood.

It's also all steel construction, so could have been made mid-war. If so, that's when natural bone supplies were running low, so wood scales makes sense.

Excuse the lack of focus in this picture of a Vic Pioneer at work (just pretend that you've used the Pioneer too frequently, and this is kind of what the world looks like to you :o):

Thanks, Mike. ;) Can you get Leinie's almost anywhere now? When I first had it, Chicago friends would run up to Wisconsin to get it. I wish the porter was available year round; more work for the Pioneer! :p
