It's time to do it again and make sure everyone is ready

You know, I found that having a Nintendo Wii, and playing this on it, makes it ten times better.

Well, it's a bigger screen, with better sound (of course, this is all comparable), but also using the Wii-mote makes you really feel like you're blasting those dang zombies.

This thread prompted me to come out of retirement today and give it a go. Having read The Zombie Survival Guide since the last time, I found that my score had improved considerably despite my lack of practice.

They still got me in the end -- they always do -- but I made them earn it.

Danny's last thread on this game had some good pointers IIRC, most especially about ammunition management. You have unlimited ammunition for your pistol and shotshells are plentiful enough that running out is almost never an issue, so if there's a lull in the action don't be afraid to quickly fire your weapon dry so that you can reload in relative peace and be ready for the next wave. Timing reloads is key.

Know your target. The faster little guys drop with a shot or two to the legs, then can be finished off in one shot on the ground. Likewise, one shot will finish any that are climbing out of the ground if you get them before they stand. The big guys are hard to kill, period, so they should be your primary targets as they're rising. The little guys advance quickly and should be kneecapped before they get too close. Switch to the shotgun to finish off large groups of walking big guys (especially if they're close) but do not reload if little guys are also present -- switch directly to the pistol instead, and reload the shotgun later when there's no threat.

I wasn't able to find the khukuri either. :)

This is a no-nonsense mercenary, I can tell you that much! The guy doesnt even play jumpy-jumpy when the zombies grab his arm! :D

Stage 22, 353 zombies killed.

Keno

My highest is a pedestrian 103.

But get this- Last Friday afternoon, Kathy came home upset about something. To cheer her up, I said "Here Honey, kill some zombies" and showed her the game. She immediately beat my up-to-that-point high score by ten. I got home from work a little while ago, and she had left her most recent high score up on MY computer screen, just to rub it in. :grumpy:

I am but a shell of a man. :(

Depressing. Got to 28 then taken out by a head-butt. Guess I need to buy the tacti-cool mouse. Wonder if Fry's has one in carbon fiber with DLC coating?

Hey, the head-butt means you shot it's arms off.

Ever the champion of fire-discipline since my NCO days, I offer these observations which I hope will be helpful:

BLZs- (Big Lumbering Zombies)- "Two to the Body and One to the Head makes good and sure that they stay dead." These shots need to be delivered in fairly rapid succession, because they seem to "recover" a bit between shots.

TLZs- (Tall Lanky Zombies)- One shot to take off head, second shot to torso.

ADZs- (Advanced Decomposition Zombies)- Two shots to the pelvic region. It seems to be almost possible to shoot through these; perhaps because of their AD condition. You can also shoot their arms off, but this does not stop them. If you shoot at the largest target areas (the black part) you have a choice of the head, the torso or the pelvis. The pelvis seems to give the greatest probability of a "take-down" shot because you won't be hitting the "expendable" arms as you often do with torso shots.

I realize my meager score does not give me sufficient "street-cred" to offer advice, but hey, it works for my wife. :D
