I've been carrying my knife in an otherwise empty pocket. Anyone else?

VolGrad's comments in another thread regarding scraping his hand every time that he placed his hand inside of his pocket reminded that I've been doing the same.(G-10 on the Manix is a little abrasive.) However, I've also been carrying it in my strong side pocket (right) without anything else inside the pocket on occasion. This way I don't have to reach into my pocket and past the knife for anything else (other than the knife) such as keys. Also, there isn't an issue of catching the knife on something else in the pocket. I realize that this is not as practical, but does anyone else just dedicate a pocket for carrying a knife?

I used to, but these days, I carry multiple knives, so I don't have a dedicated pocket per se. In my offside pocket is my small Cadet Alox, and my strong side, my Seb Insingo 21 in its leather pocket sheath (used specifically so my knife won't get scratched up as sometimes my keys are in that pocket also).

I usually do, although I will still place other small things like Chap stick in there. This is especially true if, instead of a bigger knife, I'm carrying a small slipjoint instead. Then Chapstick, keys or change could go inside, since I hate to waste a whole pocket on a small knife alone. Just my take.

Change!? This could cause scratches to certain knives. :D Seriously though, reaching down past a bigger knife such as a Manix 2 for coins can be a bit of a nuisance at times (smaller knife such as a Leek is not a big deal). I've been using the "coin pocket" for change and small items...

I do the same thing, Right front pocket is for knife carry only.

I think that it makes sense as one is not reaching for anything else from that pocket except for a knife. Also, this tends to assist in avoiding fumbles and Keystone Cop like antics, patting the pocket, etc. Anyway, people tend to carry too much stuff nowadays. Perhaps just the essentials such as a knife...

Only time I pocket carry is if I'm carrying something small, sleek, and/or traditional. The thought of putting my manix in my pocket makes me cringe:p I'd feel like I have a book in my pocket!

My edc goes like this,
Wallet: back right pocket
Left pocket: phone, keys suspended
Right: iPod, knife clipped

I used to be pretty paranoid about the change thing... not so much now. Just decided not to worry about it. I agree, sometimes if I am carrying a bigger one, it's annoying to reach for change. A deeply checkered handle will sort of do a number on me.

Right front pocket dedicated to lg folder clipped to top of pocket with dragonfly sitting at the bottom. If I'm feeling like it I'll carry a small auto in the coin pocket. Lt front pocket money clip with cards and cash. Keys and other tools on binner that clips to belt loop. Don't carry coins. Neat and tidy, no muss no fuss. Cheers

My right front pocket is a dedicated knife pocket. Every now and again something else might find its way in there, but for the most part it's:

Left front pocket: keys, Kershaw T-Tool, spare change
Right front pocket: primary knife
Small coin pocket: small backup knife
Back left pocket: phone, receipts, etc
Back right pocket: wallet

I carry too much but "I need it" ! I can't stand reaching into my pocket past a clipped knife(right front) so I carry a SAK on a tether hanging from my belt loop from a Mcgizmo clip (lays at the bottom) . Lighter or flashlight reside in the watch pocket; keys and change go in left front. No change ever comes into contact with my knife.

Not enough pockets for one to carry only a knife. It's only an issue for me if the knife is crazy wide in the pocket or has a flipper. Not really an issue just more cumbersome.

I carry my folder clipped to my back right pocket along side my wallet. That way I don't have to be one of those guys who's constantly taking his knife out of his pocket so he can fit his hand in. Plus, my knife never gets stolen by seat belts.

My folder is all I carry in my right front pocket. My keys are on a carabiner I clip to my belt loop. Phone in the left pocket. Wallet in my back pocket or cargo pocket depending on the pants/shorts.

I hate having more than one item per pocket. Becomes too bulky, uncomfortable, and disorganized. I always run my knife (s) in their own pockets.

Even if I have two knives on me, they have pockets to themselves. This keeps the knives from getting damaged by keys, etc and makes it easy to get the knife. As mentioned above, I also prefer to distribute weight evenly between my pockets rather than weigh one down. The closest thing to two things in a pocket I get is to put a knife in my jean coin pocket and something else in the main section.

my Victorinox sits in my right front pocket together with my keys and change. My phone on the other hand has a pocket all to him self.
