I've been searching for forever...

The 940 is a great knife (one of my favorite Benchmades, behind only the Ritter Mini-Grip), but it is not a flipper. The 300 Axis Flipper is. I haven't handled one, so I can't really speak to it.

The recent CF Skyline runs just over $100, has a 3.1" blade in S30V, carbon fiber scales, and is a manual flipper. It is also very compact and sits almost unnoticeable in pocket.

I am aware the 940 is not a flipper, but can be opened pretty quickly in a variety of ways. I've handled the 300, chunky terrible knife. The detent is horrible. Most people want a flipper with a good strong detent. With the 300, a simple push of the flipper results in the blade opening halfway.

My problem with the Skyline is that it looks like any other pocket knife. The blade is about as plain as it gets. I like something with a little flash, or out of the ordinary, that can still take a beating. Hopefully some day down the road I can afford custom knives.

Take a long look at the Spyderco Paramilitary 2. You will absolutely love this knife and wonder why you didn't get one before.

If you want a flipper go with one of the ZT's. The 562 may be the one you're after.

The TOPS Mil Spie might be a good one too, but it seems way overpriced.
