I've come to a decision: I'm done buying Busse knives...

Greetings all,

Yep...done. I've had several BusseKin come and go through my hands over the past couple three years...a BATAC, SFNOLE, FSH's, M6, RMD, etc...

And then I got ahold of the NMSFNO...well, that pretty much settled it for me, and over the past year or so, I've 'distilled' my collection mostly down to that particular model. It just works for me...coupled with my carry preference--namely a sheath with pouch carrying a small folder/multi-tool, fire steel, etc. I feel I'm about as well equipped as I can get. Yeah, I've still got a few other BusseKin, but for me, the NMSFNO is my go-to blade (honorable mention to the TankBuster and FFBM).

Now, yeah, if somebody wants to sell me a FSH for fifty bucks or something, sure I'll take it off their hands. Or if the Busse crew comes out with something radically/vastly superior, I'll check it out.

But otherwise, as I've landed squarely in middle age, and time feels like its accelerating, I'd like to devote as much time as possible prying myself off the internet/out of the classifieds and hitting the trails/woods/outdoors. I've got THE blade that, IMHO, sits at the top of the general-field-knife, fixed-blade food chain. I'm pretty much past the 'Help me choose a XXX' when it comes to this category.

As I think I'm fairly well kitted out, I think that's some pretty sound reasoning. YMMV.

Cheers,
BOSS

I'm truly happy for you in finding something you are satisfied with in the NMSFNO. About a month ago I had a similar thought go through my head about not looking at Busse's anymore, but sadly that thought didn't last long and I'm currently back at it......:foot: Hopefully you can last longer than I have in this regard, and I hope you spend as much time experiencing the outdoors as you hope to! :D

Congratulations....Great desition...I hope that means less table top pictures and more "in the woods" pictures for us.

I dont think I am done buying Busse's as I really want a Kukri, but I agree that the NMSFNO is pretty much the perfect medium/large blade. Jerry had golden fingers when he designed that one. Nailed it 100%!

Nice kits.

Can you explain the double lanyard setup?

Sure. Well, my favorite color is blue, so that's the 'functional' lanyard you see. However, in most cases, nothing says 'I'm right here' like bright orange...so that fob is more of a 'locator' than anything else. I could simplify things a bit by just using a single orange lanyard, but me likes the blue.

I really like the leather sheaths, could you let me know who made them?

Sure...I believe they're both Armorall Leather units.

Congratulations....Great desition...I hope that means less table top pictures and more "in the woods" pictures for us.

THAT is EXACTLY the idea.

Probably won't be making it to Blade or KC any time in the near future...never done a Ganza, don't see much of a need at this point.

I've whittled down my collection considerably over the past 18 or so months...as I say, it seems like time is going by faster all the time...I want get out more, do more, experience more, breathe more fresh air...less cell phone/internet, more trail/camp time. I want to put some more gravel in my travel.

Don't get me wrong, it isn't going to happen over night...its going to be a slow progression...and I hope to post up some nice trail reports...I'm just saying knifewise, for me, it has come to a point where I want to quit searching for the 'right knife' and use what I've got. I'm trying to move away from knife collecting towards knife using. Nothing wrong with collecting...you won't see me throwing what I got in the garbage...as I say, I just want to do more.

Good luck with that.

All I wanted was a nice FSH.

Now there's a lot of INFI in the safe and it's all good.

I've done the "let's get this down to just what I like thing."

But I keep finding more INFI that I must have.

I think that's awesome! I think people should do that more often (and the irony of being online while saying this doesn't escape me😏).

NMSFNO is at the top of my list also, just can't thin the herd to just one model.
