I've come to a decision: I'm done buying Busse knives...

Good on you BOSS. Much the same has happened for me. Love the "Gravel in my travel" line. Read it over on WS&S some time ago and it holds true.

Orange and blue??? :( I hope that does not mean you are an Illini fan!!! My first ex went to UI at Champaign-Urbana. After she got nutty on me, I've never been able to look back at that school in the same way. Still, even if you are an Illini fan, I won't hold it against you! ;)

My Busse "go to" knife that does it for me is a stripped B11 in Okuden sheath. There is a lot of versatility in that basic setup, and it has kept me from buying anything new from Busse or the X in a very long time. For me, it came down to 4 or 5 knives, but in the end after lots of use with each of the knives (including FBMs and SHBMs), the B11 was the clear winner. Like you, I know the liberating feeling you get from finally finding the one that "trips your trigger" emotionally and does everything you ask it to do superbly. Now go out and enjoy the great outdoors!

Hmm we will see :)

I've cut back on my knife buying (pun intended), but I still scheduled most of this year's vacation around the Spring and Fall Knob Creeks, so I'm not done.

And then I got ahold of the NMSFNO...

So do I. The NMSFNO the best busse ever.........................................................made!!!

You need to go use them!! They all still look new.....

Most of 'em are. Only the standard handled sage one in the SpecOps sheath has seen any trail time. Most of the others are newer to me, and thus are waiting their turn. I mean, seriously, how many NMSFNO's ya pack on the trip? But I'm planning on working on it. But one or two will probably be put in 'reserve' status.

What if Jerry Releases a NMSFNO light brigade?

Ya know, if every ounce counted, and the weight savings was worth it, I could consider one I guess. But for me, I'd rather have a few extra ounces of steel for a knife in this range...its going to be stronger, and have a little more inertia, and hopefully have a little more balance for chopping if it gets pressed into that roll. Plus, one of the real attractive characteristics for me on the NMSFNO is the convex-style grind. Me likey.

And 'Gravel in my Travel' is the chorus for a particularly good country song out there. Google-fu Daniel-san.

*cough* *cough* yeah right *cough* *cough*

I know what you mean though. Over the last year or so I've reshaped my collection from mostly collection folders to mostly large fixed choppers that I use on an almost daily basis and the rest of my "collection" has been up for sale to fund my life long dream trip to Blade (before my time runs out, it seems :(). Although I am extremely happy with the models I have right now, I would have a tough time saying, with any confidence, that I'm done buying. In my mind I just keep coming back to the crackhead that figures if he just gets one huge ball of crack he can get high enough and stop after that lol

We are so glad you found your match  While you are away, make sure you take a lot of pictures to share with all of us =) Good luck with everything!
