PrincetonTec Attitude LED light, that is.

Purchased from CampMor, I give them 4 thumbs up. thumbs
fast shipping. On sale: $12.99

I was looking for a camping?Wilderness/Survival Light that would last a good long time, yet, provide enough light for walking a path, tasks, and general seeing in the dark.

The Attitude has 3 white LEDs, and is rated at 150 hrs. per battery fill.
150 hours is a lot, when compared to a stock mini-mag at 2 or 3 hours.
It uses 4 AAA which are included, and they included the good copper top duracell batteries, (not some chinese batteries made from negatively charged bamboo chutes).

Look and Feel: Lightweight and less than 5 inches long, with a mini-keyring for attaching to paracord, your keyring, whatever. No paperwork. none? Don't know if it was missing or what.

Installed batteries: underneath of the LED module it has a + and - sign, so, that makes it pretty easy to figure out.

Impression: I was quite impressed with the light! Thought it would be dimmer, given it's long burn capability, but it's pretty decent, the beam isn't as focussed or intense as a min-mag, but my impression, is, overall, it's plenty of light for around the camp area.
Twist bezel ring to turn on. No focussing beam, it's just light. WYSIWYG.

I am pleased. Being able to carry 150 hrs. of useable light with you is just like money in the bank. Even if that is an over estimate, 120 or even 100 actual hours is still a lot of time.

It is a translucent plastic housing, not some space age chromium alloy, but, it's a simple no-nonsense light source.

if you want a long burning light source, Don't be afraid to get an Attitude.

Yes, i got it today when i got home, turned out lights, and walked around the house.
My dogs were looking at me like "WTF is up with him??"
Come to think of it, so was my wife. :D

And there is the ultimate in light tests, the "hall bathroom" that has no windows. C'mon, you guys know this one, there is no better test for the brightness of a light, or glowstick.

It's tough to put a descrition on amount of light.

The hall bathroom is a poor location for a light test. It's dark, but there's also mirrors and walls that tend to confine and reflect the light.

Take it out on a moonless summers night (NOT in the winter time when there's snow on the ground as that reflects the light too) and attempt to use it for whatever; pitch a tent, repair a flat tire, find the kid's missing baseball glove. Then let us know how well the light does. :)

C'mon man , it was sarcastic, everyone has taken a light into a dark room to check it out. sheesh.

OK, the light sucks, don't get one because it lights my bathroom well, that proves it'll suck outdoors. I don't live in the city, we don't even have street lights, when I turn out the lights in my house it's pretty dammed dark.
Light does fine for a $12 LED.

Snow reflects light, you don't say?
I guess testing in full sunshine is out to, huh?

Man, Californians, sheesh. No wonder they get stuck in Oregon! :p

I agree that the Attitude is a nice little light for the $$$. I have a couple that I keep around the house but I find that the LED headlamps are much more useful. Two hands free is a good thing. Check out the Petzl Tikka XP sometime, yeah they cost more than the Attitude, but remarkable.

Iuke,
The PrincetonTec Aurora is also a great headlamp for the $$$ also has the long burn time I am interested in. Petzl is high quality though, so you can't go wrong with either one.

Gald to get a 2nd opinion on the Attitude. Burn time was as important to me as amount of light, I'm happy with it's output. A Mini-mag with LED upgrade will give 8-10 hr. burn time, maybe 12hrs. , at best.
Attitude at 150 hrs. is just fantastic, to me.

I had the non-LED version of that light a couple of years ago and really liked it. Great size and works well with those flashlight headbands for a quickie headlamp.

Unfortunately, I let my nephew use it on a nighttime trip to the batrooms at camp and he dropped it. The plastic shattered on the back end, rendering it useless.

I would recommend wrapping the light in neoprene foam or some other shock absorbing material.

Skunk, why didn't you get a 28 LED light? I did. It's sort of like looking at a nuclear explosion. Kind of hard on batteries, though.

28? That's all? I was going to get 3 of them and tape them together with black electrical tape, hence making a 84 LED flamethrower.

Carrying the Deepcycle battery is going to be the real bummer!

'kay, 'kay, Skunk, we duct tape a whole bunch of these to the hood of a truck. It will look like something out of Mad Max.

This is your thread, not mine :D

Yes, survival lights. Brushguard, if you say so, that is a little over the top. I'm surprised. :D

I've got a half a dozen or so of these. They're great! Work great for scuba, last a long time, cheap, and enough light to check on the kids in the middle of the night, but not enough to wake them up. Good score!

Sodak, you're right. They're great. I did buy a 21 LED at the local hardware store, just for fun, it was cheap. And it throws a hell of a lot of light!

I also picked up a conversion LED bulb for my 2-Dcell Maglite, the conversion bulb cost more than what I originally paid for the Maglite. I also picked up a keychain LED for under $3, it's sort of like a Maglite Solitaire but smaller, by another maker I can't remember. I consider all of these to be Wilderness & Survival gear.

The conversion bulbs extend your battery life like 4x, so, in theory, it'll pay for itself.
For me, i just like having the light handy, good-bye to burned out bulbs, and faint lights that need new batteries every week or so.

They are making huge leaps in LED technology, they say next will be for home usage, screw into extsing socket, and save save save.

Skunk, that's true, I understand LEDs are getting into home usage.

That looks like a great flashlight that you got, happy trails!

I see the price dropping on LEDs all over the place. They used to be expensive. I think they are the next wave of lighting technology, incandescent bulbs are out!
