I've got an Attitude!!

I have One its great for lighting the ground when walking and has a really bright white licht over short ranges. and the batteries last really long time.

It wont penatrate woods very well or travel very long.

If you want something a little better for distance. look at the Princeton tech EOS headlamps, These are amazingly bright and powerful for 1 led

Have you tried the new LED mini mag ?

Not the conversion Kit which is not too great, but the actual Led light.

I've been reading about the new Mini-Mag LED lights, but, no haven't "seen" one yet beyond a store shelf.

From the reveiws, they have pretty good Lumen output.

All in all it's a direct relatonship of Lumen output to Battery life.
Some campanies just get a little bit better technology and are able to push the envelop a little more than others.

I kept telling my wife that I couldn't believe that Mag lights wasn't getting in on the LED train. I told her that they needed to come out with an LED conversion kit for their lights. I have three large D cell ones and several mini-mags. I was looking at the flashlight section last year and low and behold...a mini-mag LED conversion kit. YAHOO!!! MINE.....

You take out the light housing and the reflective cone and replace it with a three LED housing. The two problems that I see is the LED's push up against the plastic end shield and you can't focus the beam. You do get a brighter wider beam that lasts a lot longer. I'm still using the same batteries a year later. Of course the mini-mag is in my jacket pocket so it doesn't get used that much. It is more of an emergency light for getting around during our long dark winters.

My next purchase will be the LED conversion kit for the larger Mag lights. I think they run about $20 at Wally World.

Sounds like the Nite-Ize conversion kit. Yeah, the batteries will last for dang near forever, but it doesn't put out much light. Mag has a new LED version of their MiniMag (no upgrade or conversion, though, sadly) that really rocks, especially compared to that NiteIze!

Not sure if the prices are the same by you, but the cheapest I've seen them is at Home Depot, for $15.99 or some such. The 2-cell one is a nice upgrade, but the 3-cell is much more impressive.

Man.. Low blow..

My heart goes out to the Kim family.

Mike, that comment actually wasn't aimed at the Kim's, it was a joke with Bulgron about CA vs. OR from another thread...

I'm not being a big meanie, I really feel sorry for them, it's horrible.

Yeah, it was joke that someone made about Californians going to Oregon and getting themselves stuck in the woods. The suggestion was that it's exclusively Californians getting themselves stuck in Oregon's woods. It was a joke made before the depth and the scope of the Kim situation was known, and I didn't take it as a slam against the Kims.

Of course, I'm MAD AS HELL THAT SKUNKWERX INSULTED ME IN THAT WAY!!!!

Naw, just kidding. (East coast elitists. grumble.)

;)

Yeah I was born there and glad I got out :D

I turned off a back road today and swore I saw something shining through the woods like an LED. No, it wasn't the planet Venus! I came back 15 minutes later (beer run) and it was gone. I think it was an LED. In broad daylight, these things are amazing!

I agree that the Attitude is a nice little light for the $$$. I have a couple that I keep around the house but I find that the LED headlamps are much more useful. Two hands free is a good thing. Check out the Petzl Tikka XP sometime, yeah they cost more than the Attitude, but remarkable.

I'll second the vote for the Tikka XP great little headtorch...I won mine so even better :D

I got A Broken Atitude.

After about two months of EDC the pocket clip spapped off my attitude at work the other night. The licht is stil great but i may go back to my pellican Mighty Light for EDC. I wear "dess casual" or Scrubs at work so i need a pocket clip to keep the light handy

The new ones don't come with pocket clips, I think you must have had ver 1.0.....Maybe ver 2.0 doesn't have a pocket clip for this very reason??

I believe it is the other way around. The new version has a clip and the older one does not. I think the light engines are the same though. I cracked mine open and installed some of the new Nichia bulbs and it made a big difference in the output and color. I also used some of the Krylon plastic pant around the body near the bezel. The translucent plastic let too much light come back at me for my tastes.

Maybe that's why mine was on sale? no clip.

I've had a couple for 2-3 years now. The are still going strong, though they don't get "beat up" much. They are like the picture in the first post - no clip, so maybe the newer ones have the clip?

I like that they are relatively flat; they fit nicely in the back pocket. The long battery life is a double edged sword. It's great that they last so long because you may not need to carry a spare set. But I always want to start a trip with a fresh set so I end up replacing them anyway. Then I have bunch of partially used ones... I guess I should just keep the current set in there and bite the bullet and take a spare set...

Best place to check out the capabilities of a light is a few hundred yards into a lava tube or a cave.:D

Personally, I take a drive south of Bend to the Lava River Cave in the Newberry National Monument and enlist my eager son into testing various lights, some of which we buy just to excuse the trip.

LEDs are great for close in work and have been getting better at throwing light over distance, but they are not there yet. I love them for their battery conservation and with that attribute, I have various ones stashed as emergency lights.

My headlamp is a Petzl Duo 5. It wasn't cheap but it can switch from LED to Halogen as I require, so I think it was worth the 72.00 I paid for it.
