The problem with internet forums is you get all worked up about buying whatever the thread of the day is talking about. That means you end up with way more stuff than you will likely ever use.

I mean, how many firesteels, tinder, knives, paracord, duct tape, wire, tarps, ponchos, tents, garbage bags, etc., etc. do we really need?

Well, in my case, apparently all of it otherwise how could I keep assembling new kits full of the above?

Today, as I was rummaging around the *camping* closet noticing all the leftover duplicate stuff on the shelves, I saw an old Dole fanny pack peeking out from the corner. A Ha! says I and started gathering stuff to stick in it. You know, just in case...

Tossed in the the trunk of the sports car (where a little belt kit already resides). You know, just in case...

Please tell me I'm not alone in this madness!

I have aot of certain items, and keep aquiring more. I usually toss em into boxes with stuff I sell as extras, or make up kits for my friends with em, or give em away on here.

Same with knives. I buy alot, but sell to finance new ones, or to just thin down a bit. Exception is my SAKs, and my Laconicos. They aint goin nowhere.

Then, when I find what I like, it stays.

Oh no, I also have a disturbing number of kits. Frankly, building/maintaining/using them is sort of a zen rock garden type of thing. Definitely fills the hobby niche.

you are not alone---

FAR FROM IT BRO

I also buy on impulse alot at walmart ect.. I was in there the other day, and they had an isle of red tag fishing gear. Hooks etc for .75 a pack. I bought a bunch.

Haha, I hear ya on that Jake! BigLots is the worst about that. Last time I was there they had $1 spools of jute (got like 4 of them), and $2 canvas machete sheaths! Ya just never know..

I've also been on a kit making kick lately. I recently started re-organizing the basement and came across a bunch of the stuff that I forgot about.

It's allowed me to learn as I go for what I would like to keep in my kits.

:D I got in on that too man. Got a few rolls. hehe.

Call me kit crazy, just dont call me late for dinner.
I've even got a shelf for common kit components that are leftovers ... just in case I want to make yet another kit.
Find myself scanning supermarket shelves for containers, just the right size and shape.
Constantly looking for more efficient upgrades.
Trying to work out which kit is more suitable for an outing?
I dont have a kit problem ... I gather components ... make another kit ... no problem.

Must be the time of year. Yessssss indeedy-do you have company. I'm trying to get down to three or so nice little kits.

My name is Dale and I'm a PSK-holic!

It's okay! God help us, when a big quake or storm comes, we'll be ready. Somebody needs to be able to get the poo out of the fan :)

Thank God it's not just me.

Of course, I knew I'd find a sympathetic ear on WSS. :D

I ha...haven't... haven't made a kit in.....a week, maybe two....must build, new kit!

Oh, I am as guilty of this wonderful form of OCD as anyone, I'm sick, I know it, and I love it

like when I saw this, the first thought I had was, hey, I can build a new kit around that lighter!

We only need one knife, one pistol, one rifle, one shotgun, one dog, one pair of good boots, one tent, one sleeping bag, one stove, one flashlight.

Maybe next incarnation. :(

Yep do that to. Your not alone LOL. I am doing that all the time. LOL mainly it is because I made up another new knife and now need a kit to go with it. LOL

Got a new one ( carrying pouch ) for me that I swiped from Kathy. Plus a new knife and new sheath carry system to go with it. I have been planning to post pics of it all since last Friday, but have not got to it. I think today is the day.

Do not feel bad about making up kits that is what the prepared do LOL
