I've just put our house on the market

I just wanted to vent my regrets.

We're selling our lovely house on the Isle of Skye and moving back to England.

I've just instructed the estate agents to put our home on the market.

It's all doubly disappointing as it has no relation to the way we feel about Skye or Scotland, it's just that personal reasons require it.

No more eagles, no more otters, no more awe-inspiring views, no more Highlands, no more peace and no more land.

It's away from this:

Crap. thats like my dream, only in reverse. Sorry to hear it.

I hope everything works out for you maximus.

So sorry this had to happen -- I'm sure there's good reason.

You can always visit Skye...

I'm very sorry to hear, what are the reasons if it's OK to releate?

I remember how excited you were when you were near retirement and planning the move to Skye. I'm truly sorry it did not work out for you.

Maximus,
I am really sorry to hear this. I know how much you enjoyed living on Skye, and I always look forward to reading your posts about it and seeing the pics. I really hope that this will be merely a temporary setback for you, and you will realize your dream again.

I am really sorry to hear that!! I hope and pray that everything works out for you.

Very sorry to hear that; it really sucks. WOW, SKYE?! That's really really cool I see why you don't want to leave. Beautiful place. Good luck, sir.

A shame, hopefully you will eventually be able to retire to where you want to live.

Personal needs/wants/musts can produce 180 % turns.

Hope you get a quick buyer at a good mark-up.

Best wishes.

Is there anything you could do to prevent selling and moving back?

Have you explored all of your options?

I hate to see people give up on their dreams when something small could be changed, and the dream kept alive.

How about renting it out to a bunch of knife nuts on a time share basis, if that would help?

Good luck either way...

Bugger! That's a shame Max. I was looking forward to visiting Skye on my long planned and often postponed european trip.

Not attempting to dissect your situation but I've often seen retired couples move to our little corner of the world and only last a year or two. While the fella is in heaven being cllose to nature and away from the crowds, the lady usually becomes progressively more miserable being away from her family and social networks, especially when there is a family crisis of some sort.

I guess you'll have to make sure those regular outdor adventures happen instead.

Sorry to hear about that. Good luck with the move and the sale, and bit of smoke that things work out for the best. It looks like you spent whatever time you did down there in a BEAUTIFUL part, and if nothing else, you've got the memories.

Here's to hope and dreams  .

Once again- good luck.

...what are the reasons?

Principally a health issue involving a family member back in England.

...you cannot keep it as a summer home...rent it out in winter?

Unfortunately circumstances demand that it's all or nothing.

Just out of curiousity, how much does a place like that sell for in Scotland?

It's on the market at offers over £235,000, or $463,000.

Thanks to one and all for the supportive remarks. It's good to share these things with friends.
