I live on the beach, Rem Oil, never an issue with corrosion, can't rust Teflon I guess.

Prolly at some time, it was in a high humidity environment. Hot water/steam/dishwasher/washing machine/dryer/bathroom/basements w/no dehumidifier are all bad places to store a knife. I would remove the rust as best you can & use some of this stuff on it. It ROCKS ! Avail at your local John Deere dealer or online. It REALLY works.
