...To some different specs:) If any of you know of a camping type fixed blade with these specs please reply.

1)Must be a Fixed blade
2)No black blades
3)Blade legth between 4 and 5 inches
4)Cannot have a top guard(these knives feel really uncomfortable for me to hold)
5)Cannot have a convex grind

Thanks a lot!

Jeff

Not sure what your price range is, but for under $200, Bob Dozier does fine work.

I would recommend the Greco Companion. 5" blade of 1/4" A2 tool steel, extremely tough, and feels great in the hand.
You can find these at http://www.bladeart.com

I have had one for about 1.5 month now, and I love it. I have used and abused it, and it still looks new. The A2 tool steel is very easy to sharpen, and holds a great edge.

Here's a couple I've designated as my "camping" knives. They're not really "camp" (chopping down trees) knives though.

Wow, yeah, that is amazing. Price looks like a steal.

I don't know what I need one for, but I'm tempted to order one. Those are GREAT!

Amazing... yes! What I really can't understand is how he makes such an amazing knife from great materials so cheaply and its a CUSTOM for Petes sake!

Any of the other big names would charge from $400-$700 for a knife of this quality. I am serious when I say my next fixed blade will be one of these babies. Lokk at the price of the BM Nimravious (My current mid sized camp fixed blade, M2 of course) and then look at this!

VALUE VALUE VALUE!:)

you can also get one of those from a g russell for 10 bucks less than that!(165.00) It looks like I'll be gettin me one'a those!

:) :D :) :D Wow! Good for you! Heck glad I could help;)

Always a first time for everything...:p

I will look at AG's site.

Please do me one thing, send the knife my way for...ahem 'testing';)Lol!

Or please keep us up to date with how it works and feels and please post some pics when you get it!

Take care.

Dozier Arkansas Toothpick, or a Greco. I just found out about the Greco yesterday, and it looks like a good one. I need one of each.

Do you think the Talonite is worth the extra $100?

Might (that's _might_) order me one of those on Monday.

Mike

Some very nice knives in this thread. I think the Dozier is the best deal but my preference would be either the one by Ron Clark or the Simonich, Wegner talonite. Those are two spectacular knives.

Actually I missed the one that I have already ordered and that I consider to be if not the finest, then one of the finest knives made today, and that is the Pronghorn by Ed Fowler. BTW, for those that do not know, the Pronghorn is the second knife pictured in the post by Michael Aos.

It seems I owe Ed a bit of an apology for saying that the above knife was a Pronghorn. It is actually a knife made by Bill Burke. Bill makes some great knives himself and this is one he fashions after the Pronghorn. Thanks Michael for pointing this out.
