Hopefully I'm not breaking any rules by posting here without owning a busse
I'm still a knife newbie (sort of), but I do have another smaller fixed blade on order from KSF, but I've decided I want a Busse. A FFBM or something very similar. I know this will probably be hard to find as they are not being made anymore I think.

But in order to get what I want I've started a Busse fund.

Just wondering how you guys all afforded your first Busse. Maybe you were loaded already, or did you sell off most of your collection (not that I have one) Also how long did it take you to afford your first Busse knife.?

And do I have any hope of getting a FFBM?

thanks guys

I just saved up and when I had the cash I got my 1st one. :D

im very new to the busse world, but for my first busse order, selling a strider SMF covered it...and then i got a BWM very soon after as a congrats to myself on my new job:D

FFBM's are still out there for sale on the exchange, you just have to keep watching and waiting. And yes i have sold other knives I've had in order to acquire Busse knives.
As for affording them I'm living on ramen noodles and pbj samiches. And welcome,

thanks for the replies, I wasn't sure how often they come up, espsecially as it will take me a year at least to get the money. Also the FFBM seems pretty popular, like most of the busses.

That's a great choice for a first Busse knife. My first was the CG-FBM, quickly followed by a HHFSH then a BATAC.

As to affording it, I've never been exactly loaded but I got a new job with a good pay rise and decided that it was about time to treat myself to some real steel. Shame I got made redundant 18 months later when the company went under... Still, I managed to acquire a few good infi blades in that time.

A battle mistress is definitely a goal worth saving for - they'll still be around when you've got the necessary.

I've decided to save up for my first expensive knife, wasn't much about $250 then I heard of Busse, came here BATAC was being offered so I decided to pull the trigger. But at the same time there was a satin fatty GW offered and I couldn't not buy that one. So yeah, I ended up overspending and didn't have any spear change for about a month or two.

I'd suggest buying from the store or from the company or during the ganzaa (if you are lucky) but if you have your heart set on something then by all means go for it. I did when I got HOFSH at second hand value.

Good choice... and welcome! The nice thing about $500 knives is that $200 knives seem cheap! :D

so is the FFBM generally go for around the 500 mark, I've seen some people selling for more or for as low as 450, but i guess it depends on sheath and things like that.

Oh and my most expensive knife was either my mini rukus or my bravo 1 that I am getting from KSF, they were both around 200 aud

No I was just generalizing. They might. I've never looked for one. I have a slightly larger nuclear meltdown mistress. I think 5 and change though is about what they go for depending on finish and condition.

The BW Mistress at original cost direct fromk Busse is the way to go.
The CF version in DC is coming to the Ganza at a great price too:thumbup:

Sell all obsolete cutlery on Ebay to fund it;):D

Ok, well I would be fine with a user, as that way the seller would have to make it slightly cheaper, as it is 'used" condition

Unfortunately I only own a BM Mini Rukus, which I love and would never sell, a spydie g10 dragonfly, which is my great little pocket knife, and a spyderco sage, which I am selling.

Also I checked my change tin, 63 bucks, not much, but its a start.

I saved up for a while to get my first Busse.

I took my lunch to work instead of eating out and that saved a bunch of money for me, plus eating ramen noodles too lol.

I'd jump on that BWM as a first Busse, its a really good price.

I already do take lunch instead of buying, so that saves me maybe 20 bucks a week, also I just don't have the money to afford that BWM, shame, but then again I don't really like the style, and I intend to make a FFBM or something very similar my first busse, and it will probably be my last, as I just can't justify spending busse money on a second busse.

Also I just spent 200 on a brkt bravo 1, which I'm really looking forward too. sure its not busse tough, but its still really tough

But thanks for the suggestions.

I honestly just through my first busse on my credit card. My bro payed half as a bday gift :). A few hundred bucks is just a couple days work so whatever:P

I dont have a credit card, so thats why I have to save and this will be my only busse for a while. I know everyone says that they are addicting, but I can only see value for money in me buying one. And I'm probably being stubborn, but I like the FFBM so thats the one I want, as it has the 10 inch blade. Or the FBM CG. But either way a knife from the battle mistress series.

Sounds like a good choice, I'd just keep saving for your FFBM they'll be around. KH just sold a new one yesterday on the exchange for 550.
So just hang in there you'll score one. ;)
