I just got in a shipment from a supplier listed on this site. Everything else came out fine, but my Ivory Micarta sheet is not completely laminated on the edge. Is this normal, or did I get a bad cut?

Any help is always appreciated.

three sides are good. Only one edge came like this. Looks like the edge of the full sheet. Dang! delayed again...

Thanks guys.

I've never seen that before, it would make me very nervous. I guess you could cut the bad end off and see how the rest holds up?

I would never deal again with a company or person that sent that to me i would want a full refund. There is no excuse for garbage like that being shipped to anyone!

I've seen and handled a lot of micarta, and that is bad:thumbdn: What worries me most is that somebody would send that out to a customer looking like that, unless you peeled it apart to show us how bad it was. If it was separating that bad when you opened the package I would find it hard to believe that whoever packed it didn't notice.

That being said, I believe any supplier here on the forums would be very quick to replace it for you.

Best of luck with the project.

i would not put up with the block if it had the smaller delams on the left side of the block (less you ordered 2nd reat scraps and took your chances)let alone the massive flaws

Wow! That looks like catastrophic failure of the lamination for sure. Was the package damaged in any way? Like something heavy had been dropped on it?

I saw it and the edge didn't look the same as the others. I put my fingers on it and rubbed apart and that is what happened. The left side is what it was shipped like.

Out of curiosity, it it Micarta ( phenolic impregnated material), or some sort of home-made MyCarta material made with epoxy and cloth/paper.

I was wondering that as well it sure does not look like any micarta that i have seen:D.

I would think so, too. Mistakes do happen and the suppliers I know of around here fix 'em quick.

If not, bad feedback and a GB&U thread may be in order. I'd be surprised if it came to that though.

Ditto.

That make three of us. I almost asked the same thing, but I've only worked with Canvas and Linen Micarta, so I thought that maybe Paper could look like that if it delaminated.

I'd be interested in the answer as well.

Well, good news. I received an email stating they would be sending a replacement piece, and a shipping label to return mine at no cost.

Here was the other end of the same stick. Looks good to me (though I have never worked with micarta, it is what I had expected to see) .

Well, I'm glad you got it sorted out fairly, but sorry it's putting you behind. I know how that goes, unfortunately.

I don't know if it's the picture or me, but something just doesn't look right about that slab.

Anyone else think it looks odd?
