Here's one I finished yesterday.
Ivory paper micarta, NS bolsters and pins, vulcanized spacer in blue, 1050 forged. Blade is 5" and overall is 10"
I tried a different HT method on this one. I wrapped it in SS foil, no pin holes, no paper, just foil. After the quench, the blade came out blued with 0 scale whatsoever.
after tempering at 400 for 3 hours, I buffed it out, put a light ferric chloride etch on it, then buffed it out lightly.
I neutralized the FC after a couple of hours and i ended up with a very cool matte finish.
I'm not sure I can part with this one... lol.

Thanks for looking!

Hi, Dave.
That white paper micarta, is it made by you, or you are buy it from a manifacturer?
It is very beautiful knife.
If I decide to make myself a Paper micarta will it be difficult? Like regular micarta, but with white paper instead ot cloth. Glued sheets of printer paper for example?:o

whatever paper you use, make it archive quality acid free paper. the acid in standard paper left from manufactoring makes it all turn ellow or ivory over time. see any old newsppapers lately?

might be alright on a beater, but not on something to give to your great grandkids, or as a saleable item.

Thank you for the compliment.
I purchased the micarta from a knife maker's supply. I am hoping to learn how to make my own, but I haven't yet.

There are some knowledgable folks on here who actively make micarta, so perhaps they can offer some advice on making some.
Take care,

Dave
