IWB Carry

Lately I have been using the IWB (Inside Waist Band) method of carry and have been finding it to be quite convenient and useful. I usually carry a Mini-Grip or Leek and both tuck in there quite nicely. They become almost invisible and free up my left front pocket for other things. Also, I no longer have pick dimes out of my knives.

Anyone else carry IWB?

Handy way to carry. I do so frequently, particularly when out jogging (CS Voyager, being thin, goes IWB very nicely).

It's my only means of carry for folders. I've been carrying a BM975S (very large folder) in my waistband for nigh onto ten years. My next folder will be a BM mini-Skirmish. Yes, I like the knife, but one of the swaying attributes is it is a tip-down carry, which is how I prefer to carry IWB.

I still prefer pocket....I guess I like picking the dimes out! I do carry my Kahr P9 IWB when I am packing.

I carry my D4 IWB at work and usually a Para-Millie or a mini-SERE IWB for goin' places. I carry an H&K14210 in RFP for general use.

When I carry it, I have a Ka-Bar TDI Law enforcement badge knife. Its a great backup knife. but then again, it was designed for IWB.

My Centofante 4 goes RF IWB when I carry it, but my ZDP Leek gets clipped to my pocket... I've heard ZDP rusts more easily, so I don't want it as close to my body humidity.

I use my pocket I find that I wear my pants tight enough that the knife is hard to retrieve and can be painful.

Sure do...!

This is my prefered IWB carry (fixed blade) - practically un-noticable.

I IWB a mini Griptillian when running. Works out great, I practically forget it's there. Haven't found it all that comfortable wearing jeans or shorts, though.

Gets harder if you are 20+ lbs overweight, other than that..it's the only way to roll.

My experience is that the bigger folders really shine with this carry method...the BM 710 was MADE for it.

I just bought one of the microtech assailant knives, so needless to say, i will be carrying in the pocket, if that counts. Also, I carry my Spyderco Manix IWB from time to time when i need total concealment!

I have been carrying IWB FR for years now. I do have a bit of concern if I get stopped (the law here says Furtively carries with intent to conceal any dagger, dirk, pistol, or other dangerous weapon . . . is guilty of a gross misdemeanor.)
I am a bit concerned that if stopped any cop can say that I was furtively carrying with intent to conceal.
I don't think that this would be an issue if I wore the same knife clipped in my pocket with the clip showing.

That said, I am what some people would term "festively plump" and I find that iwb rf is very comfortable to me. (every once in a while when I don't have the knife perfectly positioned, I will get an uncomfortable poke.

One real plus with this method of carry is that I never hook the clip on anything, or scratch furniture with it. One reason I switched to this method was that being a larger guy I ofter scratch things with the clip on my pocket. I hooked the clip on my favorite carry knife badly a while back an now the clip is not as tight (I don't have the tool to take it off and bend it back). as such, the knife is much more prone to slide out of my pocket now.

I have always IWB my knives with a leather lanyard with one or several knots along the length .Just makes drawing my knife more faster, safer(prevents me from dropping it) , and a more securer when in rapid deployment situations.IMO

I carry a folder IWB at the gym because my workout shorts don't have pockets. My IWB fixed blade of choice is a Spyderco Perrin Street Bowie.

I too enjoy IWB carry...

But after a good run (or just a hot summer day) find a thin layer of perspiration on my knives. Anyone run into rust issues with IWB carry??

Since I started this thread I thought it to be the best place to share an experience I had this morning. First off I will no longer carry my Mini-Grip IWB! This morning as I was tucking in my shirt one of my fingers caught the thumb stud, partially opend the blade just enough to drive the point of it about 3/8 of an inch into the fleshy part of the back of my thumb.

Bled like a stuck pig.

Tip up is nice in certain siuations but not IWB.

Does Benchmade have Axis Lock tip down models? I'm carrying a Leek right now.
