How much retention do these sheathes have? Is the sheath going to be yanked free when you draw the knife?

I can only speak for mine, but the answer is no...not in my experience. The SS4 draws free. If I only carried in in loose gym shorts, with too much flexibility...it may have problems. Also note: the clips have a bottom that fully clasps on the belt....so even if you did have tight retention, you could draw the knife cleanly.

Keep in mind that Jeff is a custom maker....if you want a free floating pocket sheath with zero retention...he can do it for you.

The reason I wanted leather was to have the additional friction between my body and sheath...as well as comfort. Someone asked earlier about "sitting". If you look at my setups, I actually have my clips mounted slightly lower than Trident, for this purpose. I prefer my blade a bit higher on my hip and I am able to perform a range of motions that are important for me in an EDC system.
 
I have 3 of these sheaths from Jeff and I love them. I have them for my AD , MS , and rodent solution. He is usually pretty busy so I would get on his list if you want one!!!
