The last couple of days i have been working at a shutdown in a coal fired powerplant, I decided to carry my IZULA for 48 hours strait, except taking it off when having a shower ( i hung it on the doorknob ready to go).
we arrent allowed cameras or cellphones on site, so i didnt get any in use pictures. But here are pictures of my setup and how i carried my izzy for 2 full days. ( i even slept with it on me) LOL.
I am a supervisor for the company i work for and deal with hazmat situations all the time and thought i would do a 48 hour carry review for all of you.
the setup: Izula kit..i have an AH1 attched in a CRKT minimalist sheath and the magnesium/ferro rod with a snap ring and also 15 ft of 550 paracord with 3 ft of yellow electrical tape.
AH1 side with Izula out of sheath
pic of knife with sheath
This is how i carried it at work and when i was off duty. around my neck under my left arm.
A view from the back..when i carried this for 2 days with was also under my shirt. but i took pics like this for demonstration purposes
The draw
So i carried it for 2 full days...48 hours. i finally took it off this morning after the 48 hours was up.
Even with the AH1, ferro rod and paracord wrapped around the sheath the izula was very confortable to carry. Even when i was climbing ladders, entering vessels or carrying heavy objects the Izula was never in the way, but always there when i needed it.
In all reality it was more of a concealed carry test. it was under my shirt plus i had fire retardent coveralls on...but the knife could be easily drawn if i needed it.
the yellow electrical tape is there strictly to help my paracord from unwiding on the sheath due to constant movement ( the paracord kept slipping onff the sheath on day 1) but the tape could have other uses as well.
As i slept at night it didnt pop out of the sheath and cut me, nor was it uncomfortable. It was always there, waiting to be used.
I carried it for 48 hours strait..day and night..only taking it off when i had a shower...The underarm carry position is awesome..the knife never came disengaged from the sheath and it was comfortable to carry.
Enjoy.
