IZULA 48 Hour carry. ( pic heavy)

I've never seen that carry method before, that is worth remembering. The paracord could probably use a shot of Right Guard. :D

 I carry my Izula the same way. I use the cord lock near the sheath so that I can adjust the tension against my torso (tight or loose to the body). I tie the cord ends w/ two over hand knots, one on each side, again to allow for adjustable length of cord. This way if the cord becomes too tight, the knots will allow for the cord to slip, until the knots meet each other. I dont know what to call this type of knot, but its works very well w/ para cord.

The lanyard on my Izula is for when i draw it fast and dont completely grip the handle, i still have some realistate on the knife because of the lanyard.

I am going to add a tiny tiny maglite or one of those photon LED's and I am going to write the OAL of the izzie on the handle also thats a sweet idea.

OH! whats this ....? My Brand new h.e.s.t. that i picked up today...???? In an underarm carry position? Hell yes thats what it is.

Interesting carry idea.

However, I wouldn't sleep with it around my neck, you never know what might go wrong in the night. But at the same time, I don't keep anything sharp and pointy or loud and shooty near my bed when I'm sleeping.

I second this. I've sleep with my weapons many times overseas but this is different. Are you in a really bad area? Personally I would set up a night stand as your go to location - knife, flashlight, etc. My $0.02. Not trying to be a smarta$$ just trying to understand the purpose of sleeping with it on your body. I know my Izula would puncture my lung nicely if I rolled into by mistake.:(

I slept with it on me as a test. If SHTF are you going to take all your gear off when you are dog tired and need to sleep? I dont think so. I appreciate the concern, i took a risk for the sake of giving you all a review.

the sheath on the izula works..it didnt come out and cut me. With the paracord under my arm and around my shoulder there is a very very small chance it could choke me out during the night.

again, it was just a little risk i took for the sake of the test, and again i appreciate your concern. " kids, dont try this at home"

I like the under arm carry but I thread the paracord through two holes in the sheath. This stops the Izula from swinging around. I also wear it a lot lower, closer to my belt line. I love this carry method.

OK. Thanks. I was just trying to understand. Thanks for the review.

I was just wondering-- working in a mine, what drives the need to carry a weapon 24/7 at the ready?

I may have missed something in the original post but I'm a little lost on this.

a weapon? A WEAPON? it is a tool. and one of the finest functioning ones available. come on bro, i think you are just trying to yank some chains. well i've bit.

:D First I'm speaking for me, and I don't know his reasons but......... This is BladeForums..... We carry knives... That's what we do :p ..... It's our hobby.... It's like you going to PhotographyForums and saying "Why do you guys carry these huge SLR's everywhere, you don't even need a camera at all?" Not trying to be rude. Just saying, and I just got my Izzie, I wouldn't exactly classify it, or most knives as weapons.... It has like a 2inch blade. Maybe the junglas.... But I'd need someone to send me one for evaluation.... Any takers? :p Most of us carry knives for convienence and because we weren't born with nice sharp claws to open things for us. Hope this helps explain it!

I do have a question for the OP. I'm curious why you. in a urban area (I'm assuming you are), carry the AH1 daily? I can see it's application in a PSK or if I was in the woods, but do you have a specific purpose for it? Or is it just because you can? Either answer is totally acceptable to me! And thanks for the idea as to the carry style, I'll use it when I'm at the gulf shores next week!

I was carrying it for utility purposes. I cut a lot of things at work. Rope etc. I don't remember saying I was working in a mine and the Izula isn't a weapon. Its a cutting tool, although it could be utilized as a weapon no doubt. I didn't see it any different than carrying my leatherman to work. I surely didn't mean to offend or concern anyone. Heck, the ammount of hell you could raise with a large flatblade screwdriver would suprise you, and they are available on any work site.

Again, it was just a review.

as i stated before, i think it was a chain yank. how could you be in this forum and ask this kind of a question?

Ok, before I get thrown down for asking my question, I wasn't yanking anyone's chain. I was only curious about the necessity to carry it at all times, even in the shower.

I am all for having a knife with you, it just seemed peculiar to me the mode or method of carry and I didn't understand what type of work he was doing to require a tool to be on you 24/7.

And you did refer to "concealed carry" which gave me the impression of a weapon, not a tool.

I was mistaken with what a coal fired powerplant was, in that I apologize.

Shelbyguns was spot on in reference to my question and it is what I expect to see....I guess I just didn't ask the question correctly.

You're welcome just trying to help. I think he said that he wore it everywhere but the shower, but I could be wrong. The 24/7 carry was a test to see if it would be too uncomfortable or to ungainly to facilitate it incase of a SHTF/GHOK/TEOTWAWKI situation.
(SHTF= Sh*t Hits The Fan(breakdown of society)
(GHOK= Get Home OK (riots, floods, storms, any reason you would need to get home in an emergency)
(TEOTWAKWKI = The End Of The World As We Know It (pretty self explanitory.)
I see where the "concealed carry" could have thrown you for a loop, but when I see it I simply see it as carrying where it's not visible, not actively hiding it like one would a weapon they want to use to defend themselves. Does this help clear up some things?
