Izula and SERE

What is that key looking thing hanging off the Izula sheath? Also when are the approximate release dates?

That would be a small firesteel.

Remember guys, that's not the final sheath, that's Kydex and the description says it'll be molded, like the RC3.

I might have missed the announcement but when are these babies coming out? Im dying over here :(

I really don't like skeletonized neck knives.

But for some strange reason, that Izula is calling my name.

I like the SERE, but I'd really rather not have the bow drill indent -- seems like it would be a "hot spot". I understand why it's there, but I'm not one of the "real deal" guys, and this would probably end up being my "If I go into the woods with only one knife. . ." knife.

After seeing them at the show, my wifey is dying for a new Izula. She was very clear though, NO PINK! lol

New to the RAT forum, but the Izula has got my interest, very nice design!

I see several of these coming my way, GF said she wants one as well.

Sweet, both will be a buy for me.

Please release the sere to the public with the sharpened glass breaker.

Glad to see some of you guys are getting over this silly Busse thing and going over to REAL knives.

Down with INFI!!

The RAT slays the HOG!!:D

(OK guys, if you need me, I'll be in hiding....under my bed....Don't tell the Busse people.)

Ah, Shotgunner11, thanks for the welcome and I appreciate the candor;)

I have tried many brands of knives over the years, some have stayed, some have gone, but yes, an INFIholic.

Have observed Mr. Randall's contributions to pursuits of all things outdoors since way back, maybe writing for Survival Guide magazine? Anyway, long time ago. Have kept up on the RAT line of knives and the Izula really gets my attention. Looking forward to its release as apparently many of you are as well. Maybe the SERE and a tshirt?

Your not foolin anybody, being from south 'joisey your prob not scared of nothin:thumbup:

Thanks for the comments, HDBeav. Glad to see you in our little part of the world on BFs. Ran into Jerry and a lot of the Busse guys at Blade. Good folks. They had the biggest booth at the show and they were rockin' It's good to see so much interest in American made products, especially nowadays with everything going overseas.

I hear ya. I can't afford INFI and my Izula is everywhere with me. It's in my pocket at work, hanging on my carabiner around town, next to me when I sleep, and on top of the book I need to finish reading within 2 hours. :D

I still don't know how I feel about the SERE. Jeff hit the nail on the head when he said, "Dylan, I just don't figure you for one of the larger size knife guys, but check this out..." I handled it a while at the Blade Show. It was certainly a cool design, but normally I'm not a big blade carrying guy. I still have a ton of bigger blades around from my days of wanting to move to a bigger "tougher" knife, but I almost never reach for one now. I never even put belt loops on sheaths that I make for bigger knives, because I never carry one on me. It might be in the pack and only get used if i need to baton or chop something.

What struck my about the SERE was that even though it was a hefty blade, obviously meant to take SERIOUS abuse, it wasn't way too big. It was a pretty compact knife despite the heft of the blade. It wasn't too long, too heavy, or too thick in the handle. It was a little more weighted than I would prefer for EDC, but for a survival, S&R, typre of deal, it was pretty nice.

Anyways, enough rambling, point being, I'm going to have to buy one when they hit the shops and try one out for a while. I'm sure, if nothing else, it will turn into a helluva good camp knife.

Just wait until you see what's on the drawing board next. That is is you like tough, full sized knives that are lightweight and easy to carry. :D
