I carry mine on occasion. Now, it's mostly a small Micarta Sebenza, since my SIS and pepper spray are my go too defensive tools.
I don't really think of my carry knife as a defensive tool, although I have a
little training in weapon retention using a knife. I mainly carry one for basic daily use. So, the small Sebenza is just fine for my daily needs. I will carry one defensively along with pepper spray if I'm in one of the very few "no carry" zones here in South Texas, and it is always the Izula instead of my Sebenza or Striders.
I carry the Izula more when we go for a walk, for example. When I do carry it, I either put it in my front left pocket (along with a spare magazine) and the lanyard around my belt so the sheath will catch, or I put it on my belt horizontally on my left side above my rear pocket.
If my main reason for carrying a knife was for defense, I'd be more than happy to carry the Izula. The blade's cutting edge is very similar in size to the Strider SNG, although the SNG has a little more reach. It's a great little knife and it is the perfect daily carry fixed blade.
You can see how the blade compares to the Strider here. The izula has more belly though.
