Izula carry options?

Sometimes I wish I didn't live where my only option is bury it in your pockets.

The ankle carry isn't an EDC plan, just a stash[-away option for 'formal' events where I always end up working with my hands and tearing things down afterwards. More likely I'd leave a button undone and neck it under the shirt, more interested in experimenting with options out of boredom.

I either use it as a neck knife or I use the paracord that I rigged through the holes for crossdraw cary with the sheath in between the belt and my jeans. I'll try to get a picture up tomorrow.

I usually just slip it into my front pocket for EDC, if im hiking or out bumming around in the woods or desert its usually attached to my backpack strap via a molle clip

That inner-tube trick just blew my mind, going off to try it when I get back to my smaller fixed blsdes back home. What is with this company and the Macgyver tricks?

I love that inner tube idea, just plain genius. Now all I need is an Izula to try it on, I guess I will have to pick one up.

I honestly don't fully comprehend the innertube thing :\ I understand that it makes the sheath snug so that it doesn't travel along your belt, but beyond that the concept eludes me for some reason :(

As for me, I carry my Izula with the MOLLE clipped to my belt across the back. I wear my shirts untucked and usually a flannel now that fall is here. I'd prefer to use a paracord rigging for it, but being able to just snap the sheath off and on is so nice to be able to do :p

Use the paracord spring slider (wtf is that thing called) that comes with the kit.

I find it a bit large as a necker under a T-shirt...
I sometimes carry mine in my right front pants pocket.
You tether the sheath to a belt loop with a bit of cord.

That way you have the option of either popping it out with your thumb, or just pulling on the handle. When the cord goes taught, the knife releases.

Could not agree more. I do use it as a necker under dress shirts, however, as I can put it between my over and under shirts and access it through the gaps between the buttons. It works very well and no one can see the chain because of the shirt collar.

I'm kind of interested in doing somehing similar. Do you use the Rat sheath or did you get something different?

back pocket sheath gives me the easiest access. Plus, I keep a Rat 1 folder on my belt in a horizontal sheath, so its nice to reach back and have multiple rats to choose from. I think i will make an IWB leather sheath with magnetic retention and give that a try.

For the back pocket, how would I go about securing the basic sheath? The usual paracord leash, pinning it in, or is it usually an aftermarket option?

I used to carry a small TDI in my jeans fifth pocket, pinned in place with a safety pin. The damn pin would come undone all the time and if it wasn't poking my body, it got me when i went for my pocket. I think a tie pin might work well though.

That said, I made a sheath for my BK-11, before i got my Izula, that holds my knife and wallet snugly in my right back pocket. I found that just putting the sheath in with my wallet, the knife does not stay vertical, let alone deploy easily. Since the sheath fills the pocket, it stays in place nicely. I just wet molded the sheath, with a welt that reaches the top of my pocket and it stays tight, even when I ride my motorcycle or bicycle around town. The knife is retained by simple friction, plus, when in the seated position, it tightens down even more.

(forgive the link rather than actual photos, I cant seem to make any 21st century technology work as it should)

the Izula magically fits perfectly, even though it was wet molded to my becker. I am staring on one specifically for the izula tonight. This one was a quickly thrown together prototype primarily for proof of concept... Proven.

I have seen a pocket sheath that holds just the Izula at Knives Ship Free, but the wallet attachment makes it practical, and unforgettable every morning when i put my wallet in my pocket. Plus, the bulk is mitigated by keeping everything separated side by side rather than overlapping, or simply loose and moving. It also hold my wallet more securely than just the pocket.

I am able to produce such sheathes for others if there is some interest. I am not looking to make money on the deal, so my price would be materials and shipping only. Rather, i want more people happy not only with the AMAZING knife that the Izula is, but I also want people to find an effective carry method that meets their personal use needs. I like solid retention, rapid deployment, and a position that wont make the knife dig into my ample torso.

for all of you who like the necker option, but not the bulk, a merc-style harness inverted underneath your non dominant armpit works wonders when you have a suit on. I usually add a vest specifically so i can conceal things under it.

Any thoughts on how the MOLLE clip works? Is it designed to be threaded through two straps, or is it thin enough for a belt loop?

I'm all for the pocket sheath. Mine holds my wallet in place as well as the knife to keep it vertical and in the right place at the edge of the pocket. The stock sheath is great, but it is tough to deploy from the back pocket.

When I go out to the woods, I wear it as a necker, but i tie paracord to the slot on the side rather than the hole on the end and carry it at about a 60 degree angle.

I've put on the molle lock and carry it on my belt. I only have to find a way to prevent it from opening.
