izula folder date?

more than zero and less than infinity :D

I think we can at least assume it's a sub one million dollar folder.

Seriously though, if it's anything like what the concept pictures are, I'm all for it. I'm really fond of the blade shape. I was *this close* to getting an Izula, but unfortunately carrying it would go over like a lead balloon at my college. I wasn't especially fond of the RAT-1 folder, mostly because it isn't much like its bigger, better fixed blade cousins. But also because of the materials, and the country of origin.

So what is holding this thing up? Am I mistaken in thinking that more people desire folders over fixed blades? Is Rowen not up to the added complexity?

If and when they did come out, I'd have to get two. One as a permanent pocket fixture, and the other as a pre-need replacement. And likely on the permanent pocket fixture one I'd strip all that godforsaken coating off, for a number of reasons. One being cold, bare, patinaed steel is a damn sight sexier than the powder coated kind.

Jeff wanted to go higher but Mike Perrin and I talked him down some and we think it's going to come in under the $100,000.00 price point.

It's going to be pretty close to the designs that you've seen. On a side note, I think it's really sad that the powers that be at your school would have a problem with a sub-3" blade regardless of it being fixed or folding. This world were living in....sheesh.

I love the RAT-1. I wish it was US made as well but I have one that has served me very well through some really hard use.

Pretty sure this is the first folder for Rowen. ESEE and Rowen both are very particular about making sure things are done right the first time. It cost alot more to retool than it does to get it right right off.

Not going to be seeing any coating on the folders. It'll be a semi-stainless (D2 most likely) and uncoated.

I cant wait for this folder to come out, I keep checking for updates. I know I am getting one for sure, I love frame locks.

Many thanks to the the straight scoop on the "when" and a bit of the "what" on this knife. It's sad to think it may still be that far off...but I still want at least one folder.

well, ok, I HAVE just one folder...but I want it to be ESEE like my other Randall knives. :)
